Now that the LA Lakers have re-sign Lamar Odom and signed Ron Artest, it is now safe to say that the Lakers will return to the NBA Championship and perhaps win another ring. With Kobe Bryant leading the charge and Pau Gasol holding down the post position, all the Lakers need now is for Legend Phil Jackson to say he's coming back for another season to ensure another championship. Without Phil, the Lakers will be good but I don't think they can win the whole thing without him, especially since the Celtics have put themselves back in position to return to the Championship series. Other teams in the Western Conference have not made the necessary moves to match up with the Lakers which tells me that thier not trying to win the big one. The Eastern Conferences teams are doing everything they can to balance the power with Shaq in Cleveland, Vince Carter to Orlando, Rasheed Wallace to Boston, and Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva to Detroit, the Eastern Conference will be highly competitive and i'm interested to see who will come out on top. So, saying all that brings me to my question, which East coast team do you think has the best chance to make it to the championship and possibly beat the Lakers?

Yea, the Spurs do have a good team by adding Richard Jefferson, Antonio McDyess, and Theo Ratliff, but that's not enough fire power for the Lakers. Artest is going to do all the dirty work for Kobe with guarding the best scoring guard on the floor. The Lakers has the best defensive backcourt in the league with Fisher, Bryant, and Artest. But I do agree with your pick though, the Spurs do have the best chance with Parker, Ginobili, and Jefferson, but i don't think it's going to happen. It will be a interesting match up!
