When it's not your problem, it is a lot easier to step back and put the situation in perspective to find the logical answer. When it's a personal problem, emotions often get in the way. I am famous among my friends for the phrase "just talk to him already" because all of my friends come to me with their relationship problems, and all of their problems could be solved by just finding their courage and talking things over with their partners. Often when someone else gives me the same advice it takes me days to follow through with it, because all my fears get in my way.

It is a lot easier to give advice than to take it from yourself, I don't know why that is, you would think it would be easy but think through a problem and work it out but you are right it seems much easier when it is someone else you are helping through a problem.
