Is the Bar Vocational Course worth it?

I'm a Law student going into my last year at Warwick University and about to hit the time of year to apply for the BVC. I'm just starting to have some doubts about it and I wondered if anyone who has done it/ applying to do it thinks it is worth it as it is very expensive. What job prospects are there if you don't obtain a pupillage and as far as studying goes is it an enjoyable experience?
