In my country, a lot of newly high school grad try to enroll in Nursing course as they thought this will help them to have a big chance in working abroad... I dont know, maybe thats what they called Filipino mentality... If they saw someone very successful in that career then they will encourage their kids to take it.. They pay for tuition anyways so how can the students react but to follow, what matter is they finished their college... In our country College level or your Degree is very important for you to get better job.. unlike other country... im sure in other country, high school student can go a long way... I finished accountancy as they said all company need accountant so there you go but i really wanted to be a computer engineer... Since i dont have that much support and vote from my family then i have no choice...

I can't really say what is the best course to be taken up by a graduating high school student even if I have graduated 9 years ago. The best course will also depend on the student's interest. You can't force your sibling to take up a course just because it pays well. You can't excel in something if you don't have the passion. I took up one semester of Computer Science in 1996 but my mother asked me to shift into another business course. Right now, I am regretting that I have obeyed my parents. There are some things that we need to make decisions for ourselves and not by the other people. A person's success is not based on his education either, Bill Gates was a Harvard University drop-out and other CEOs as you can read it here: http://finance.yahoo.com/career-work/article/107139/CEOs-Without-College-Degrees?mod=career-leadership

the best course to follow is to get educated in whatever
is closest to your heart and stick to your courses until
you graduate aNd get the job you wanted with all your
heart no matter what field it is in. do what you like and you will like what you do. being unhappy in the workforce is
]just plain awful, you will gain little but unhappiness.

While I was reading your discussion, i have checked your profile and I've proven that my assumption was right, you're a pinay as well! I have to agree with you that a degree is very essential for us to find a good paying job here in the Philippines. Oh but i can't say that there isn't best course available in the world, it's because every course that you take can lead to a successful life. it's all up to that person on how he'll be able to strive for that!

weeeeeh, I am a 5th year and graduating student of the same course that you have taken up..and i think its one of the best course to take..But what I wanted was either Nursing or Secondary Education major in Mathematics but I did not pursue it..haha, for me, I think my course is one of the best course, we can easily find a job if our course is related to business (but not all)..

the best course, i believe is geared into information technology.. The future demands more accuracy in any field, be it medicine, statistics, accounting etc etc. It may be a very expensive course but it sure goes a long way.

Hi, in my opinion, choosing a career you like is the most important. Can you imagine what will you feel when you work all day doing something you don't like ?? career is long time stuff, so you should take it as a big deal. I think parents don;t need to follow the fashion because the fashion is gonna change in the future.
