well my friend i am using ESSET NOD32 for almost 4 years now and i am very satisfied with its performacne. i mean i have no major virus problems after i have installed the antivirus. i also get updates very regularly and that also helps a lot. the scanner is very fast and efficient. more over the whole programe is not a resource hog. it works on the background without slowing down your machine. and i personally find that very good compared to few very famouse ones like Norton and MacAfee

Even though lots of people mention here are for paid and expensive programs like Norton or Macafee, there is one that is free and is one of the best in the world, even exceeding some of Norton And Macafee reviews. This anti-virus program is called Avast!, and is one of the best and lightweight program out there. I mean, it is cheap (free) , uses much less system resources that the other programs use, and when combine it with malwarebytes, another great freebie, your computer will always be safe.
My advice also is to never use any of the Microsoft security programs as the reviews and I personally think really suck. They were made to build operating systems, not security programs. Leave it to the experts.
This is my ideal security software, with my firewall Comodo, almost nothing can get past me!

I have an anti-virus of Symantec which is registered and I am using it from the last one year but due to piracy issues, I can not give you its upload link. Send me a private message and I shall send you the link. It will eliminate all viruses from your computer and will make your computer secure from future virus/ malware/ trojan attacks.

I would really reccomend AVG antivirus. It is free to download and offers a wide variety of protection. It has a virus scanner, firewall, linkscanner, anti-spam, and a few others. Highly reccomended and does not take away too much of your CPU.

Hi,
Although NAV (Norton AntiVirus) is a good one, but at the same time you need to think about the PC configuration. The NAV will slowdown the P-III PC. So I'll not vote for NAV in this case.
