Should people follow their dreams?

We are each born with unique gifts, something that has the potential to make the world a better place. In most of us however, it is snuffed out by fears and feelings of inadequacy or maybe the possibility of rejection or the responsibility of success. Sometimes relatives caution us that our ideals are too high and therefore unattainable. Sadly this happens far too often and whether we are a wonderful dancer, a born teacher, quick with numbers, or a natural actor or actress, we have to understand that holding ourselves back is never the answer. The world has been denied much because mom or dad, or perhaps uncle Harry' thought we should forget those foolish dreams and try something more practical. What are your thoughts?

personally, i think people should follow their dreams, that way, the world will be a better place (seriously). if you really love to do something, then nothing is going to stop you. passion is everything and i don't see why other people have to force you to do something else just because you get to be paid better for it. dreams aren't foolish as long as you really have the passion and the will power to make it happen. and i have a quote that i would love to share: "my goal is not to wake up at forty with a bitter realization that i wasted my life at a job i hate because i was forced to decide on a career in my teens." - daria (yes, the cartoon character) :]

Why not ? Let's make it simple. 4get abt the big dreams & every thing & come to the basics. U get up in the morn & have dream to complete the daily routine jobs. U may accomplish them or not, is all together a diff issue. So, imagine. If there were no dreams, how would u continue to exist ? 2nd part. These small accomplishments helps u to achieve larger dreams. 3rd part. Ur achievements can b guiding light to many known or unknown. It goes w/o saying tht the happiness u derieve by achieving the dreams, or in other words, converting dreams in to the reality, is the by-product of dreaming. The real happiness lies in finding & following the ways to achieve ur dreams. So, my friends, don't just dream. Also, achieve them. BEST OF LUCK.

if we don't have those "big" dreams, then what's important is that we like what we do and not do anything just for the sake of doing it (unless we DO enjoy doing it). what's sad is that sometimes society dictates to us the things that we should do and even if we don't want to them, sometimes even if we don't think about it, we do it anyway. my point is, what matters is that you know what you like and enjoy what you do. :]

Hi LiAXaZu, Sorry for taking so long to respond to your comment, but thank you for coming here. I agree that the world would be a much better place if everyone enjoyed their work. No one should try to stop another from following their dreams. I also like that quote. Blessings.

I couldnt agree with you more. People should always folloow their dreams, no doubt about that. I have so many dreams that I am aiming to achieve and I have them written down so I can look at them every day. When people tell me I cant it actually motivates me more. People often let their dreams go by and this should not happen.

abenitez that is a neat way to approach the dreams. I like the ideal that it motivates you that much more. Dreams are things that can and will be conquered if you will allow them too. Thanks to your comment I now have a different approach to my dream log and those that say it can't be done.

If one has a dream I believe they should follow it. Dreams make people tend to work harder to achieve it. One should never give up on ones dream they should always aim for it no matter how hard it is for them to try out.

i think that dreams is not easy to explain it's reason.i have met these things,so i often notice what happened in my dream, maybe you said there is no reason to follow their dreams, but you knowed you often think about something ,so it often leave it in your mind and appeared in your dreams.if people find good way to deal with it,the dreams would be disppeared.maybe some people often say the words:you think everyday and dreams at night.the dreams is a part of people's thought,so people don't follow their dreams.

You are right we all have dreams. Dreams are somthing that we really want to do or complete . I strongly believe that we all need to reach for those reasonable dreams. The dream of winning the lottery is problably something that cannot be reached, but the dream of owning a new home or car is somthing that can be reached. As with anything else you have to work at getting your dreams. Go for your dream and don't let anyone or anything get in your way, no matter how long it takes.

Hello pose! "Dream whatever you desire to dream, go where ever you wish, seek whatever you desire because life is unique by how you shape it". The saying goes for everyone, however one should consider a dream which is to himself is attainable otherwise it will be a foolish dream. And of course realization of a dream definitely will come along only with one's endeavor and perseverance. Good Day!

Personally the problem in this world, is that too many people are too busy wanting to, or trying to be like the Jones, to where they forget about themselves, and their Dreams and aspirations in their life that they once wanted. They will even drop out of school, etc. just to make someone else Happy even if that means not doing what they are really wanting too as well. It is time for more people to stand up and be counted and go on and pursue their dreams of what they've been wanting since childhood and give themselves a better life as well.

Everyone has a dream. Dream come casually. Having ideals can stimulate the spirit of life. Ideals can be changed to follow the changes in time and maturity. People should tend in life, and continue to tend. Sincere and grateful with the results obtained. The dream is a dream, not reality. No sad, if the dream does not come true.

I think we must let our dream come true in any way.The life is so valuable that we must treasure it.We can't live again. If we follow the others' suggents that told us you must do this ,shouldn't do that. The way i see it,that life is not your life but others' live.If only you follow your dream, when you at the old agre you will not regret!Having a lot of experience, you tall you growing stories to you grandchildren. Enjoy the sunshine with peace!

Hi,friend.I read even a sorrow mood from your words. But I should say, what you said is the reality.Father and mother and our relatives often tell us to do things like this or that, even I do not like this situation,I have always to comply with them. Now I have a good job that they think ,but I am not happy.Life can be only once, so if you have a dream ,just come to it.I do not want to imagine when I become old,my life is repentant of no dream.

Hi sunshinedina, Sorry for being so late in responding to your comment but thank you for coming here. I feel that parents should let children follow their dreams. It isn't good to be doing a job that you don't enjoy. Blessings.

Anyone who has ever wondered about this kind of stuff should read Dan Miller's 48 Days to the Work You Love. It is a wonderful book that teaches you how to think outside the box and find a fullfilling career based on your strengths, abilities, and the things you enjoy. We spend so much time working, we really should enjoy what we do. I'm reading it right now and it's really making me think about what I'm doing for a living vs what I want to do. It's healthy to be happy.

I think people should follow their dreams.. Dreams is what make you life lively and the reason of what you do today.. I think to reach your dream, you will face many complication before reach your dream, and one of the complication is what others said about your dream, either it's your parents or your friends.. If we still believe and follow our dreams then the dreams will come true. It's all need efforts and hard work. There's always possibility to fail and there's possibility to success. The possibility is 50-50, so let's believe positive side that you can reach your dream! You can forget your dream anytime, so why you must forget it now? And for the worst case you fail, let me ask you 1 question.. Which one do you choose? Fail after you try and make effort to reach it or fail because you never try, too afraid to try? The answer is depend on yourself.. Good luck
