What is happening to the health care plan?

What is going on with the health care plan that Obama was talking about? If it's anything like what they have in England, I don't think that it will work. That means that the government will decide what treatments we get and when we can get them. I do agree that people should be insured, and yes I understand that insurance is hard to afford especially if your work doesn't pay for it. But it they want to do something, I believe the most important thing is to have any kid under the age of 18 be insured no matter if the parents are insured or not...What are your views on this health care plan and what is happening with it?

I'm not from the States, I do not live there either, but based on the issues and problems that are similar to several other countries, the only thing I would dare to say is that, do not expect the current leader to solve years of bad decisions by himself during his government.
It might take a while and with some help I might add. Criticism I don't think it helps in anyway at all.

I think criticism can help keep politicians honest. If you're not speaking up for what you believe in, even if it is against someone else's program, they'll take the silence for a big yes and push forward.
The government doesn't have free reign to rule over America how they see fit. That's why America is America -- its founding documents give a voice to the people. And if that voice happens to be critical, it just might remind politicians that they work FOR us and not over us.

I simply don't understand this sort of Stepford wife attitude we are all supposed to adopt suddenly because Obama is king, I mean president. Did his election destroy our free will and thought processes? Is it going to become illegal to criticize the president? Why is it that people from other countries keep trying to tell me that I must love, worship and adore Obama? They may do so if they wish, but I have a duty as an American to be critical and analytical when it comes to the way my elected officials do their jobs.

Absolutely right!! The United States is not becoming the EU either--I bought my window marker and will post this deceit all over my windows--including "No, thanks, I'll keep my "clunker"!

There are many ways to provide insurance for those who need it without this complete overhaul and takeover of health care by the government. Providing insurance for the uninsured would be far less costly than this plan. It is simply ridiculous to propose these kinds of expensive programs at a time when the federal deficit is already so high and the economy is in such trouble.

Soon the whole country is going to be how the state of California is. It's crazy, since he's been in office, how much higher is the country's debt now?
