Friends, I always thought Helium is a good site and honest one. I just thought they don't pay to some countries' writers and only US, Canada, UK people will get paid. Today I come across some people who say Helium has deceived them and is not paying. You can check yourself at: [complaintsboard.com/complaints/heliumcom-c172962.html] Add http and www before I would like to know the experience mylotters who are members of Helium Thanks and Regards

Today also I tried, but the restriction is still in force.

You would need to email Helium direct and get dispensation based on proving that you can write articles that meet their standards.

Why bother? They are not the only fish in the pond.

Well, I started writing for Helium about the 3 years ago and still have not made enough to make their pay out which is $25.00 an amount that is very hard to get to with their mottos. I am only at $17 something dollars there. But I really have not written any thing new there because of this, I have like 40 articles there, and if I had wrote them on Associated Content I would have been paid several times over so I find writing there is a waste of time. So I can not honestly say weather or not they are actually paying the money that they owe people. However, once I do finally make enough to get paid out there, I would be really upset if I did not get paid.

yeah, they say that writers didn't follow their rules so they couldn't approve. Hope you get your payout soon, write some articles and submit. Wish you the best!

Helium is not the kind of site where you can just earn passive income. We are more of a writer's coop, and this requires active -- even if only minimal -- participation. You need to maintain one rating star to earn. This can be done with as little as 2 10 minute rating sessions a week. You also need to keep up with articles that have slipped in rank placement, to leapfrog revisions and work your way up the competitive latter. Building up a large body of non-exclusive articles is important to earn consistently each month. I encourage you to take advantage of the paid gigs in our freelance Marketplace too. If you'd like tips on improving your earning chances, I'd be happy to help: bwhitlock@helium.com. Barbara

Well I am a steward although non-paid and would say it sounds like sour grapes. I don't agree with everything Helium does but it was the best site for me to improve my writing and to earn money. I have been paid every time and it took a lot of hard work to get my stars, yes I lost some but then improved my writing to get them back. Rating isn't always fair but it is realtively anonymous so the vast majority of rating is going to be done by raters with the best will in the world to rate the best article highest. There are ways aroudn it especially by looking up articles as you rate but it is a lot of hassle and hardly worth the effort.

meant to add that payment will go to any writer as long as paypal is valid in their country. Thus if you are an Indian writer who has been accepted back onto the site you will get paid, in fact I only know of one lady from Jordan who can't currently get paid because of paypal restrictions.

I have been a Helium member for 2 years and, although I don't earn a great deal of money there, I have reached minimum payout several times. Helium is a great place to learn about writing, and there is plenty of help available for those who want it. I would say it is certainly an honest site. Check out the Helium interest section here on Mylot, and I'm sure you'll find out a lot more. Next to Mylot, Helium is my favourite website.

I am on staff at Helium, and I've read through all those complaints and posted a thorough response to the pattern of complaints which I read. Please know that Helium is a competitive site that requires a highly respectful online culture. These are some of the issues that trip folks. Helium has a supportive and responsive community and staff, and we do all we can to help our members. Not all succeed with the writing or within our unique online culture. The web is an open platform for any disgruntled person to cry foul. Discerning readers need to get the full picture. My inbox is always open for anyone who'd like to ask questions, get more information, and add details to help them discern where to place their writing on the Internet. Some 250,000 writers are writing and earning on the site. A handful are off in cyberspace sharing their frustrations. Hi Barbara. Thanks for joining us at mylot, I have been mailing Rex. Also though Mylot doesn't like the use of links in the posts, normally ends with discussions being deleted.

Thanks for the information. I do guess it, when a person cannot meet the guidelines set by a certain site they start crying foul rather than improving themselves. If I have any doubts about Helium I will surely contact you at the given e-mail id. Happy Mylotting!
