most people know (or so i thought) that it pertains to pot smoking. im not really sure who or where the phrase originated, but i would guess some kids came up with it to talk about smoking in front of adults. we used to say we were going to play hockey; people come up with so many different things to talk in codes. if you find out where it came from let me know.

Hey! Post number 4 is close to what it means. Growing up Ive been told that, that this is the earliest you put your plants in the ground. April 20th. Also in some countries its suppose to be a national legal day to smoke w*ed but its not. Also it could be just a persons birthday so don't listen to that idiot in post 3 he has no idea what hes talking about.

The term "420" has had many definitions, Among those that are imbibers of marijauna, It is refering to the time that most schmokers prefer to "fire one up", in agriculture it is the safest time to plant crops in order to attempt to get a double harvest in one year. And on the religious side (pagan) it is the day where we celebrate new life that has been brought into the world by the earth mother.
