Okay, here I sat today playing on my Facebook account when I got a comment from one of my friends on there. I had to ask whom it was as the comment they left was one that made me realize they were also on Mylot. They also stated I had asked them previously whom they were. Now is this short term memory loss or just simple forgetfullness? Is your memory as sharp as it once was? Do you forget people/friends from one site online to another site as well?

Oh no, you poor man. Memory loss is not good at all. You better believe it when I say my memory is as good as it was when I was uhhh, ummmm, what was I saying? Oh yes, now I remember what I was saying so I will continue, no we still haven't gotten any rain. hahahahahahahahahaha
Grandpa you just have so many friends I am sure it is hard to keep up with them all unless you talk with them pretty often and not like once in a blue moon.
I know I have days when I wonder if or what is wrong with me and my memory so you are not alone.

Thanks for the br's today. As for rain I have almost forgotten what that is. My son went just over a hundred miles from here the other day and he was in hard rain and temps dropped to 71 there. We are in our dryest year in 90 something years. And this heat don't help at all. We sure did have a high elect. bill this past month and will be the same next month but gotta keep cool.

That's why I only let people that I personally know be my friends on facebook. If I let everybody off each site I go on I would never remember who they were. lol I don't think it's due to a bad mind...you probably just have a lot of people on there from different sites and it's hard to remember who each person is.

Joining the same site after a long time makes you appear forgetful, for I couldn't recall many of my friends. But of course there are some special ones
As someone has said, you have got a lot of friends! And in that case, forgetting someone is not exceptional.. Thank God I don't have contacts in more than one sites simultaneously :) Also, Facebook spoiled my account, so I'm safe.

Honestly I feel the same about some of my online friends. I can't always keep track of who's how far pregnant, all the kids ect especially if I haven't spoken too them much or they have not really posted (especially those of my Mommy groups whom have gone back to work full time and the net is something they don't always have time for).
Though I will agree if they post on FB & then on the forum I met them sometimes it is hard to make the connection that this "------" is Jane Doe on FB.
So no you are not loosing your mind! ;0)

I think its just simple forgetfulness, I can remember faces but not names, so I'd have alot of trouble remembering people on the internet since I can't see their faces, it would take me awhile to recognize the name. Are you on Facebook, so am I. I might have to look you up..

I am in my 30s and I do ask the same question repetitively sometimes too
it's not a big deal for your age people sure understand
I don't try to remember anything unless it's in regard of close friends, family or business
so if I forget something it could also happen because I 'chose' not to remember them

I have a hard time remember people from face book and here especially since I have not been here in several months. Good luck at remembering names and faces. I think it has to do with what we do around the house and not keeping our brain active.

Hello Grandpa Bob. The same thing has happened to me! I always feel a bit embarrassed, but hey, it happens to all of us at one time or another :)

hello Grandpa Bob... nice topic here
anyways, i don't really know but i am the kind of person who forgets anything, everything and something as always as like everyday! though i am always making sure that i wont forget all those necessary things again but still i tend to break all those rules of mine. i am still finding ways on how to stay or keep in mind my things. but still i haven't tried some ways be attentive about this problem of mine. sometimes i write it down and then problem again occur, i forgot where i put that notebook, paper... and when i do find it its already to late. hope i could get over this soon.

I don't have this problem on-line, because I'm not on many sites. I worked at a Helpdesk for a while, though, and I would talk to hundreds of people. Some of them would be the same people over and over. After a while I would get to know who they were, but at first they would remember talking to me and I wouldn't remember who they were. I think that when you talk to a bunch of people every day, especially on different sites, then it is normal to forgot a few.

I have brain farts all the time Bob. I can't remember past the length of my eyelashes most days! So you are a Facebook junkie too! I have been there for the past two months and love it. The games are fun. Are you a farmer too?

I remember people from their avatars and sometimes their myLot names. More then likely it is when I see their true names and they are similar to names of friends of mine and I think that they are a relative when there is no relation at all. I have a good long term memory and I do not know if my memory is as good as it once was, because well well you are 65 plus and say you forgot, they automatically assume you are getting Alzheimer, so I cannot say.
As far as it goes, I have been better at remembering faces rather then names so if I see their avatar or their photo on mylOT and on the other site, I know it is them and I never forget.

Hi GranpaBob,
It actually gave me a silly smile when I read you discussion. I am so similar to you, every now and then I forget people and their names. Sometimes I think I'm so young and I'm now having short term memory loss.
Funny how this things happens to me, there is this times that when someone pass by me and they smile and say hi Diselle( my name) and I couldn't even recognize the person. Till I finally say who are you again? Then later to find that they were my classmate from highschool or some people I met from gatherings.
Sometimes I see the exact person I had asked their name was again and I again forget their names! And I get embarrassed to ask again. HA HA!

Dang it,why did I come into this room? I have a pretty sharp memory, but it's true, it's not what it was! Recently somebody on here mentioned that we used to talk a lot on Yuwie. I didn't remember her from yuwie at all, so I went over there. Aha, different avatar, different screenname. well no wonder... so I didn't feel so bad!

Yes I do, especially if they use different names. Sometimes I think my mind is like a large sponge, and water is the memories that go into it. The first ones in (or the oldest) stay in the center of the sponge where is stays wet all the time. The last of the water entering (the newest memories) stay on the surface, where it dries out first, sending those memories into oblivion.

Haha, sometimes I could come across your situation, and I guess that should be short term memory loss or just simple forgetfullness. Then after a while you might remember the whole thing that ever happened.
