Will there ever be a player that gets the Max?

Ovechkin,Malkin and Crosby all seem like players that deserve the ''Max'' but obviously took about a million of as ''Home Town Discounts''.Because of this,will there ever be a player that gets Max? The Max is roughly 11 million.

Danny Briere actually earned the maximum salary during the first year of his big contract having earned over $10 million during that first season. However due to cap control we're not ever going to see that amount spread out over the term and duration of a contract. It would strap the team way too much and they'd be unable to build any sort of a team around them. I don't doubt we'll see someone earn the max or close to it in a single season but they'll have a long term contract that's either front of back end loaded so the cap hit is significantly smaller.
