Hello, I had a distionary years ago. If I need to look up in the distionary I go to the online version of a dictionary. I will probably continue using the online version because it is updated yearly. As long as I have internet access why bother getting a new distionary.

I do buy dictionaries. The last time I bought a dictionary was two years ago. I bought a Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English. It came with a CD which makes it very convenient. I loaded it on my computer and I refer to it very often. It gives you the meaning of the word, its root. It shows you how the word is used. It also shows you the tense and if you are not sure of the spelling it lists all the words and the alternative words with their meaning. I have also invested in Encarta a very useful tool especially if you have school going children. It has a wealth of information that is packaged well. I buy Encarta every year.

I bought an English dictoinary about 4 years ago. But I hardly use it. Maybe the primary cause of buying it is just showing my determination of studying English. I'm accustomed to using website and software.

I have one since my Primary School till now.. I had an Oxford Dictionary (those time got no computer yet).. and I will still buy one in time to come when my child go to school, as I do not want her to be too dependent on the computer, and when there is no, it will be difficult for her..

With the internet available, no need to own a dictionary. I never bought one although we all should have a decent hard copy just in case we don't have access to the internet. Specially if we have school-age children.

I have many dictionaries in my home. I have dictionaries in English, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian. Some of those dictionaries I bought when I was in high school. At that time the Danish hign schools were divided into two lines: The science line and the language line. I chose the language line and I studied English, German and French. One of the English dictionaries that I bought was "Advanced learner's dictionary", and I have used that one a lot, it is one of my favourite dictionaries. The other dictionaries that I have bought are smaller, and some of them are a mixture of phrasebooks and dictionaries. I used them when I was travelling in other countries.

I love having dictionaries. I keep using new words. There are times when I need to check on the meaning and usage. So, I have bought dictionaries esp. Oxford English Dictionary(OED). I have bought this twice. If there is any interesting addition to the dictionary, I make one more buy. I do use Dictionary .com , but that is when a hard dictionary is not close at hand.

I have a dictionary for me from my school days. Then there was no internet and we ahve rely on dictionaries to find out meanings for hard terms. So,almost every school goer would have a dictionary in the past or at least they have one in common for a family.Even now,my daughter is compelled to buy one from the school. It is an essential thing for students as everybody will not have access to internet.Cheers!

Yes I do. I have lots of very old dictionaries here and I still read it sometimes. For me it's good to read a dictionary to enhance our vocabulary and to practice our reading skills
