Have you ever cried at a stranger's funeral?

Mother of Philippine Democracy - Aquino's presidency saw the restoration of democratic institutions in the Philippines, through the enactment of a new Constitution which limited the powers of the presidency, restored the bicameral Congress, and renewed emphasis on civil liberties. Aquino died on August 1, 2009 from colon cancer.

May they be celebrities(Michael Jackson's funeral, perhaps?), political figures, or just a random funeral that you passed by while driving/walking. At 9:00PM today, the late former Philippine President Cory Aquino who was the Mother of Democracy, has been finally laid to rest. The funeral march from the Manila Cathedral to the Manila Memorial Park lasted 7 hours. Many people have turned up to 'escort' her to her final resting place. The people seemed to be strongly united at this time, showing their respects and support. I have never met her(wish I did) and I was born 2 years before her term ended. And yet I just could not help but tear up while watching the funeral on tv. Aside from animal cruelty, this is one of those rare moments that I could not hold back the tears. WEll, I was alone in the room so I just let it flow. I could hear my Mom sniffling from downstairs. At least I wasnt the only one.hehe Anyway, have you ever cried at someone's funeral who you did not know personally? or are you the type of person who always cries at weddings and funerals whether you were related to them or not? If not, do you think that could happen to you? or are you just the type of person who 'reserves' their tears for someone who they hold very very dear.? Thanks for sharing.

Hello bj.. As humans with feelings, we will tend to have these kind of strange wonderment, even though the person in demise isn't related to us in any way and whom we don't know at all in real life. I was close to tears when the late Princess Diana was on her burial. It was largely broadcast and my local TV got it. I watched it from beginning right till the end. I remember my whole family members were watching and there was this somber air going round. I think as a natural emotion, we are sad when we see things like this; either on TV or on the net..

yeah, I guess I have that. I mean there are those rare moments that I admit to being vulnerable when in usual situations, I appear okay. I only vaguely remember about Princess Diana. I was aware of what happened and that most people all over the world were deeply saddened by the event. Guess I was just too young at that time to be able to fully grasp the impact of the situation.. It seemed to have been very comforting that you were with loved ones while witnessing such an event. Thanks for responding.
