Good day my fellow MyLotters,
Before the computers and printers, most of us use this machine called typewriter to create our document, projects and anything that needs to be typed. During my first 2 years in high school I actually used this typewriter to make my essay projects, and then I have discovered the computer. Thank God that he gave the knowledge to the man who invented the computers . Anyways during my college years we got a subject called typing, it help me a lot to speed up my typing skills.
But now a days, I don't use it typewriter any more cause I already have my own laptop and printer. How bout you, do you still use a typewriter?
God bless.
Happy MyLotting .

Your missing out on the typewriter. You went to in rites mode. Just playing. Well it is basically the same but the only difference is your might need a more fancy typewriter when you wish to type as fast as a keyboard. I've remember going back to a typewriter and attempting to type as how I would use a keyboard and I figure it was harder because the stiffness and tension the keys have verse the tense and nice keystrokes a keyboard had.
Typewriter is more rites

I still have an electric typewriter that I bought for myself many years ago when I started writing. I really don't know how I managed correcting errors and typos, but I did. I didn't writ near so much as I do now I have a computer, that's for sure. I don't think anybody would want my electric typewriter now even if I offered it to them for free, so it's collecting dust somewhere in the attic. - Derek

Good day derek_a,
At least the typewriter that you have used is pretty much high tech than the typewriter that have been used by most of us . I think in electric typewriter you can correct the errors that you have made, em I correct? Thank you for your response.
God bless.

I had a typewriter before I ever got my first computer. I could type on the typewiter very well. But I'm go glad I got a computer. There is so much more you can do on the computer that you can't do on the typewriter...especially like getting on the internet. And you don't have to worry about trying to line up the sides to type in the margins and stuff either.

I actually haven't used a typewriter since highschool either. But I grew up typing everything, in fact I was typing before I was writing. It just became a thing for me to do, I was a very slow writer. Not that I didn't know what to say I just had difficulty with holding a pen and writing. I don't use a typewriter now, I have a laptop which I love.

Hello brienn.Ü
In my younger years, we were using typewriter for doing reports. My sisters even had a typewriting class. They should be used in typing without looking to the keys. I remembered how hard it is to punch those keys while typing. Some were stuck and we have to put them down manually. I also remembered using liquid paper whenever we committed mistakes. We didn't actually had the typing class cause it was already outdated. When we were in grade 6, we were taught to handle computers and had our computer class. If my memory served me right, i think we still have our 2 typewriters in our old house.

I used a typewriter when I was in junior high. It was the first thing I could write on without tiring my fingers. I have a disability and typing no longer required me to write by hand. I was overjoyed. Not as overjoyed, of course, when I discovered word processing and things like spell check (thank god for that!). I'm a terrible speller and always thought that would hamper my writing career. Now, however, I don't have to spell or write. This is happy.

Although my Mother worked as a Secretary/Typist in the 70's,We never had a typewriter at home, except for one of those (Lilliput?) "Junior" ones my sister had when She was about 8..I've never had the training or need to use one at school or in college, and it wasn't until I got my first computer (A Commodore 64!) and a printer to go with it that I started using word processing software for the first time..Unless You don't have an electricity supply where you live or where you're travelling,or just want to live off the grid, nowadays I don't see there's any need to buy a typewriter-with cheap computers and email,a typewriter is obselescent..

Lilliput were (Are?) a manufacturer of typewriters aimed at kids-although kid friendly, they were fully functional machines.I haven't seen them on the market in years,so they may have gone out of business since then..

i hate typewriters. i mean the ones we purchased and had before. cause the keyboard is kind hard to hit. and you need to press it hard for it to go down and type a letter. cause ours is kind of cheap kind. the soft key and easy to use typewriters quite more expensive. i don't use typewriter before cause it is hard to use. and of course because the computer became popular back in the early 1990's and so i didn't have the chance to use the typewriter that much. thankfully we have the computer now.

Good day hotsummer,
Yeah you are right the keys of a typewriter are hard to hit sometime and you have hit it hard in order for it work, and there are times when I am typing my fingers slips on the spaces between the keys . Thank you for your response.

Good day joannaleed,
You are right, it is hard when you made a mistake if you are using a typewriter. Good thing someone invented the magic erasers, but it only works best for a wrong word or letter . Thank you for your response.

I learn to type using typewriter at my home. Then, at school with the typing subjects..Then..typewriter becomes obsolete..i learn to type and print using my computer..It easy and i could make many copies..The only disadvantage if i have no ink or their is a power failure..I could not type or make a print..With typewriters still around..I used it and it is a hard labor typing as when you commit mistakes you have to type and start over and over again..Then, you could not make many copies only using carbon paper which is very dark..But..I am really amaze with the judge stenographer as they type faster with short notes and even without looking on the keyboard..They memorize all the keyboard in old typist using typewriter without even looking.they are fast and hardly commit mistakes..Computer really is a convenient tools...and typewriter being around you could still used it when you run out of ink and their is power failure..that is a manual typewriter using a rainbow..and not the electronic typewriter..

Good day neelianoscet,
Just like you I also learn to use typewriter at our home, with the help my loving sister . And I have just improved it when I entered in college. It is really difficult to use typewriter, as you have said if you have made any mistake or you need to change a phrase or words, you cannot just change it immediately. We are lucky enough that someone have invented the computers and printer, we don't have to encounter this problem anymore . Thank you for your response.
God bless.

I like to help my mom typing when I was child and at that time, we still use typewriter. I like hearing its sound and movement everytime I hit the key. Now, my mom still use typewriter because it's faster, she said that. And she can type on receipt or on a small piece of legal paper with it. I learn typing with computer and I think computer is better in some aspect, because you can delete your typo and add many content into your write, we can't do that in typewriter. But if there's virus attack that computer, the you will lose all your data there, when typewriter can't be attacked by virus^^,, Eventhough I still use computer, but I like typewriter too, since it's practice, no need electricity and no virus..and I love its sound,,makes me remember my childhood time

Good day ChrysanTflower,
You are a very good daughter to your mom. I like also the sound that produces by the typewriter, but when I was in college it is very noisy to hear more than 10 typewriter that have been use simultaneously .
Computer are really much greater than typewriter with a lot of aspects. Thank you for your response.
God bless.

hi brienn!^^
i can't remember if i ever used our old typewriter in writing my school paper, reports, etc. but i do remember that i used it in typing all those fictional stories i wrote using my favorite cartoon characters as the lead characters. ^^;; i loved writing fan fiction then. in a way it helped my typing skills too. we had a typing class back in high school and typing at home gave me the daily exercise. LOL
we still use typewriters here at the office too. we use it to type data into pre-made forms. but i don't use typewriter anymore at home because i already have a pc. and i don't know where our old typewriter is now.^^

i learnt typing on a good old typewriter in school. still remember my teacher making us type 'the quick brown fox jump over the lazy dog' so many times over. thankfully computers became the norm when i went on to tertiary education. i cannot imagine using a typewriter to type all my assignments. i am prone to error so i'll be wasting lots of correction fluid and paper. worse is i will be submitted a paper which is full of obvious corrections.

Good day haiershen,
Have you seen one? You should try it sometimes, it is not necessary right now to know how to use typewriter, but there might be some time that you have to use it, at least when it comes you know how to operate it . Thank you for your response.

We used to use typewriters all the time when I was in college. My course was journalism. Our professors always required us to bring typewriters because it was the cheapest way to train us. We used typewriters in writing news, features, and other stuff.

Yes, it was really heavy, and I especially disliked it when I had to carry my typewriter and it was raining. I just don't have enough strength to carry a typewriter and hold an umbrella over my head at the same time.
