Underwire Bra Unwired!!

Grrrr!! This has happened before to me, I end up with these bras that look and feel good until the underwire breaks through and starts its annoying little pokes. Besides trying to push the wire back into the bra and later sewing a little 'barrier' over the hole, is there any other alternative to what I could do to save myself from being wounded from this thing?

It happened to my bra too! I tried sewing but it keep sticking out too. I'll just keep pushing it back in since i don't want it unbalance since its only one side. When it happened to my friend, she pulled it out and it's a little lopsided. What you like to do. ^.^ It is a little annoying to keep pushing in the wire for me but its one of my favorite bra.

lmao...I have a friend that did the same thing and made that comment up above before reading yours...Doesn't it always seem to happen to the faves and only on one side? I wonder if bras are made like this on purpose to keep sales UP? hehe!!

I've read that underwires do this either because the bra is not correctly fitted to the wearer or because it's worn out due to washing/drying. My personal opinion is that they do it just to annoy me LOL A bra repair kit has actually been developed for underwire bras. I'm certainly not endorsing it because I've never tried it... but it's an interesting concept and it would definitely be nice if someone comes up with SOMETHING that works! Here's their website. Looks like they accept paypal in their online shop and ship to the UK, Canada, US, etc.: http://www.thebraangel.com/#

Well as one who suffers through the "big padded bra" (when I give in and actually wear the darn things LMAO!), I think that Bra Baby thing is pretty cool too! I've actually gotten to the point though where I try to just avoid underwires completely. I know very few women that find them comfortable... and it really has little to do with bust size or anything either because I'm large chested and my daughter is really really small on top - she has every bit as much discomfort and trouble with the underwires as I do *sighhh* I'll be watching to see what you have to say about that Bra Angel - hope it actually does some good!!

I got two packs of the bra angel, they work pretty good! I think I'll order some for my daughter, she seen mine and wanted them. They are something that you would want to put in your purse or car because they'll be great in an emergency! All you do is take one out, put it over the wire that's sticking out and push it back in....problem solved! I haven't tried washing the bra that I used them in, in the washing machine, just by hand.....I don't want to lose them, they're invaluable!!

I went ahead and ordered two of them, it says I will get it in 3-5 working days and I'll let you know if it does work. I hate throwing away bras that I like and that only have that one 'minor' problem. I tried a 'bra baby' http://brababy.com/ and it only works right if you have a big padded bra, my lace ones slide right out, so I'm giving it to my daughter who thinks it's 'cool' and then she can give it to someone else. lol!

I am sorry I have no solution for you with that. I can't wear the underwire bra's because I break out from them. Yeah, seems weird even cloth covered I still have a reaction to the metals. I have to find good support bra's without the wires, they get expensive still its better than breaking out.. oh at home no one here to worry about so it is braless

lol....maybe I should just take mine off....seems like the obvious solution to my problem!! **sittin here going...duh!!** (Sometimes the obvious answer goes over my head some days!) Once in awhile I find the underwires that have plastic instead of metal and they end up doing the same thing...have you tried the plastic ones? It does seem kind of weird that even through cloth you have a reaction! I'm not sure what kind of metal is in them but I know I seem okay with the metal in the bras, but can't wear cheap metal earrings, watches or necklaces or I break out like crazy!

Sorry to hear that. Why not go for other types of bra without wires? If you are comfortable with just cotton bras, then it must be better to use aside from the fact that it is more dangerous to wear wired bra, than un-wired bra. This is just my opinion. If the bra which is wired got lose to its original position, then i don't know if sewing it will be the answer. I guess buying a new one will be much better even if that wired bra was expensive, but it has to be dispensed.

that's usually what I end up doing....going and getting a new one. I like them when they're new, but shopping (believe it or not) is not one of my favorite past times.....I like to get in and out of stores as fast as possible, so if I can find an easy solution, I'll take it! I haven't found any without underwires that I really like, the good support ones w/o always seem to have wide straps and look like the ones my mom wore....I like the way the wired ones look and the way I look.

That's so annoying mzz, it happened to my favourite bikini top and it isn't easy to avoid that bit of metal digging into you when in and out of the water. I sewed it back in but it didn't work then next time I washed it the wire came completely out in the washing machine. The only solution is to hand wash the things to avoid them getting loose in the machine.

This used to happen to me all the time, until I decided to go braless!!! Bras are just too uncomfortable. I feel much better without one. I don't know who the heck invented those damned underwires, but whoever it was must have been a man, because no one who knew what it would be like to wear one herself, would ever make another person wear one. LOL

I hate bras with the underwires in them. I usually take them out anyway because they poke me also. I would suggest that you go ahead and sew it up when you first get it, to make sure it does not break through and poke you. It is worht a try.

I could do that if I wasn't so lazy! When it's time to sew one that pokes through, it usually takes me a few days, if I wash it I lose the wire or forget that it came through and have same the problem again!

Hi, mzz663. I would say, just don't buy under wire bras anymore. If they end up breaking. I had a bra that got worn out from having an under wire in it. I finally threw this bra away too. I prefer to have a bra that does not have an under wire in.

That happened to me once. I just pulled both wires out and wore the bra with out the wires. It was practically the same to me.

seems like the "other side" never wants to come out unless you get scissors and cut it out and sometimes finding something to get the other wire out seems impossible....

I would always just take the wire out once I got tired of it poking me. I think it is time for a new bra at that point! It is like men wearing underwear with holes in them. Okay guys, time to throw those out now! But I feel your pain, as I have been there many times. Other than removing it or sewing the hole, I can't think of another option.

hahaha....holey underwear and socks! I pitch them first thing....for some reason, I have a hard time throwing out a bra because the underwire came out and that's all that's wrong with it! I usually end up getting rid of them but parting with a fave one is harder than getting rid of the undees and socks.

It is better, if you stop wearing the wired bras, just wear the plane type or padded ones, because if you are wearing one and using a cellphone, the radiations from this, can induce electomagnetic radiations in the gridwires of the bra, this is harmful from health point of view.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

There's a new product on the market called a Bra-lee. It's a super easy to use, self adhesive patch that goes right over the whole in your bra. They just started selling on Etsy.com I know their website is under construction, but check it out. There's a link to the Etsy page. The site is bralee.com Think of it as a band-aid for your bra!

There's another product new on the market. It's called a Bra-lee. It's a self adhesive patch that you can put on your bra which contains that offensive underwire and provides you with the protection you so desperately need. Check out the website at bralee.com. It's currently under construction, but I know that Bra-lees are being sold in the mean time on Etsy.com
