Friends what's up? how long do you all normally wait before giving out a best response? Do you wait a few hours, days or weeks? I'm thinking that we should wait at least a week if not longer but then I think, well maybe that's too long to keep a discussion opened. So what do you think? Help me out friends because I'm still fairly new to all of this, thanx in advance!Happy mylot!

Hi
I usually wait till there is no more incoming responses to my discussion, sometimes it takes a few days and some times more than that.... and sometimes i forget!... well you can always go to your oldest unresolved discussions and start giving them best responses
happy mylotting to you too!

best response..........
Ah, yeah that is just what I will do the next time when I happen to come up here. Waiting until there are no more responses coming into your discussions are a good way of doing it, but I just thought that most people would have a certain number or days when they'd stop taking them and then give a best response. thanks for sharing, Happy mylot.....

It depends on the discussion. If I have asked about the download link of some software and if I have reevced the the response with the exact link, then I will make the response as best one and I will not wait for the further, as my issue is already resolved with the help of his. If we are asking for some suggestion, then we may need to wait for about a month or less. But I will not mark the best responses immediately to such discussions.Still I am having more than 200 discussions with our marking the best one for more than 5-6 months.Slowly I am marking them, few discussions in a day.

Best response...........
Okay well it seems that you are giving everyone plenty of time to get in on your discussions and I'm sure that everyone really appreciate that. So I will wait at least a few days before giving out a br if not a little bit longer. So thanks for participating. Happy mylot!keep mylotting!

For me it really depends on the Topic I started, If I asked a simple question and it get's an answer that suits me in the first few responses I go ahead and give a BR.
But if it's a ongoing discussion about something, I usually wait no longer then 5 days total, or 3 days after last response.
I personally hate when people don't give a BR when obviously the discussion has ended or the question has been addressed, so I like to encourage others to do so, by doing it myself in a reasonable time.
I would say a week is a bit to long unless the discussion is still going, but rarely that happens.

Best response...........
Thanks for responding my friend. The thing is this, there are new people signing on to mylot almost every day, that's why I figured we should keep the discussion open for at least a week in order to be fair to everybody and especially those that are new here or that are a little bit slow about catching on. But you happen to disagree , huh? But that's cool to each his own....Yeah we learn by seeing what others are doing. keep posting and keep giving BRs... Happy mylot!

I tend to wait a week before I consider if any response warrant a best repsonse. By doing this it allows more people time to respond before you make the decision and as some people do not make it on here every day it only seems fair to give them the time. Quite often I will have discussions older than a week without a best response becuase I still feel that those given really are the best.

Best response...........
Okay my friend, Thanks for your response, it only make sense to wait a little while before closing it out. You kind of lost me at the end of your comment but that might be because i"m feeling kind of sleepy and once that happens I just feel like going to go and lay down, so anyhow thanks for your response and I will try my best to keep it open at http://www.mylot.com/images/emotes/cool.gifleast a week.... Happy mylot.

Hi Citychic, I am guilty of not giving out many best responses simply because I am not sure. I find it very difficult to select any one response because there are generally many good responses all deserving best response nomination. I have hardly been doing so now since a long time. I feel it is not fair to other members who have given equally good responses - all the best and happy mylotting

When giving out best response, what is the best time to give them out?
Thank you for your response Kiran8. I agree it seems that a lot of people give out good responses but it's so difficult to pick the best one, especially if you get back a lot of responses. When I say a lot, I mean like over 20. So now I must make a choice. hummm, this isn't going to be easy but i sometimes like to see who is giving me the most information. That would be a great determining factor. Have a great day! happy mylot!

Well, the discussions are always open no matter if the best response is given or not. Some people wait just a few hours, which I find weird. I get so many e-mail notifications that often times it takes me a couple of days to get caught up. And by that time a lot of people have given the best response. I still answer their discussion though if I can contribute to it. I reward a best response two weeks after I first post it. It gives people time to catch up, and also it allows you to get more responses to choose from.

I won't mark the best response in a short time because I think it is not fair. Usually I will wait for about a week and then decide which is the best response. As I think I already give enough time for people to respond to my discussion. It is time for me to choose the best response.

I do that too, go into my unresolved discussion and select BR when I have nothing to do or there's no interesting discussion in my homepage but I wait for 1 or 2 months first before mark it..

Based on what I see, after BR awarded then the number of response in that discussion decreasing or don't get any response anymore. That's why I wait until 1 or 2 months before choose BR. Honestly, I don't mind write response in a discussion that started 5 days or 2 month ago. I ever find it when I searched in one interest and if it looks interesting, I will post response.. But if I see BR already awarded, I don't know why but it makes my will to respond down, because I think this person already get the answer he/she want..except if that topic really interesting for me.. Happy myloting too
