Why would you buy a cheap imitation's of the real artist?

I would never want to buy Cd's of imitation artist, even as a kid if the voices on the record or cd didnt sound like the original artist then I wasn't interested, thats why I cant understand why some people or parents buy those kids Cd's with imitation artist singing popular artist songs, I mean I guess I understand that parent's want to protect there kids from inappropriate content and thats a good thing, but why not just buy the edited version of the original artist songs instead? (I mean think about it when you were a kid would you want to listen to cheap imitations of your favorite artist)?

I don't like the cheap imitations personally either. But the only kind of imitation CDs I like are the Punk Goes Pop, and so on series. The remakes of the Cd are pretty good, but you have to be into that kind of music.
