I was stunned with the high endurance of the four honor guards that accompanied the funeral cortege of president cory Aquino. While watching the procession, I couldn't help but wondered how they braved the heavy rain, then a little bit of sunshine, then the confetti, and other factors. Originally, the procession only planned to last for only 2 hours, but then circumstances made it 9 hours instead, but the four honor guards stood there proudly as if they are not humans who could not feel any tiredness and numbness, I was so impressed with their rare endurance. They deserved recognitions from their commanders. How about you?are you impressed and feel proud of them?

Yes, I saw that too via live streaming since I only depend on gmanews.tv since I am living abroad. To see what is happening there makes me feel that I am also there even if I am far. Was so glad that I was able to glimpse the last moment. I saw those 4 guards and they really did the very best because it was really so difficult standing without any movements at all. I can read most people credit those 4 standing men because they have been standing for 9 long hours. I hope they get something like a Boracay vacation or any commendations for that. Happy Mylotting.

Hi jlamela! I think everybody was impressed by the tenacity and patience that were shown by the 4 honor guard. They were instant celebrities, where every newspaper carried their pictures (of course with the casket of President Cory Aquino). It's really amazing how they have kept their composure despite of the rain, the long hours of procession, even the call of nature. I was surprised by the discipline they have shown. One of the incident to showed this discipline was the story of the policeman. He was hit many times by the coins thrown by the people as tradition to the casket of President Cory eventhough he saw them coming to him. He did not docked or moved his head to avoid the coins because it is against the rule of the honor guard. They have truly kept their sworn task and job. Have a nice day!

I also watched the interview at TV patrol and SNN about these four wonderful men in uniform how they braved the rain and call of nature just to fulfill their duties. I was so impressed with their performance during the procession.

I think all those watched them were really impressed and eventually, they are now instant celebrities. Anyway, I also think that Filipinos love people who work hard and do their best. I was wondering if only all of us will do the same, our country will be a better place to live in. Thanks!

I'm so happy that they are given recognition because what they did last August 5 was historical, really, because that was really stunning, standing for solid 8 hours is not something to be taken lightly. I saw last night in studio 23 news that former Senator Agapito "Butch" Aquino, President Cory's brother in-law had given P25,000 each honor guards.

Definitely they deserve the honor and recognition for that 9 hour trip. That is a feat that they have to endure to serve their former commander in chief. Well I guess it is paying off as they were on the news already and they are being interviewed here and there and it seems they are enjoying this moment. But I doubt it if they would last that long. they would return to their normal duties as soldiers and police. But they can have this as good memories that they have in the whole of their careers and there will be no more opportunities like this that may happen for sometime again.

Yes definitely. They went beyond the call of duty, standing still for almost 10 hours I think from 11am to 8pm, braving the rain, the heat and the coins that come their way without flinching, without faltering. No food, water (except for the rain) and no going to the bathroom. I'm proud of the discipline they possess, one of them even got hit, or maybe it was all of them that got hit by coins thrown their way. Yes, I believe that commendations are called for their actions, and I know that they will be given such from their mother units. That day more than ever am I so proud to call myself PINOY. ^_^

I too was impressed by them. It's so amazing how they did that sacrifice. Standing and motionless for 9 hours is no joke. Those four honor guards deserve a lot of applause and honor. They did their job very well. That was so difficult and if I were to choose, I'll rather run for 8 hours than to stand without any motion for that long period of time.
