my 6 yr old daughter was diagnosed with autism at around age 4. she always has to have sum form of a toy in her hand, im guessing for security. she changes toys every so often and for a good while i got her to put it down and go thru the day without it but when she started kinder her teacher got her attached to a stuffed ladybug. if the teacher doesnt give it to her right away she has a fit. she does know at the end of the school day the lady bug stays there but she has a stuffed bunny at home that she carries around. if she cant find it when she gets home she gets mad and goes crazy looking for it. does anyones son or daughter do the same?

I live with my three grandsons and their mother and each boy has had his special toys and they still do. And even the oldest boys have their Pokemon, Bakugan toys that they carry around all the time now which isn't quite the same thing but it sort of is. Now my youngest, he's the one on the autism spectrum, he has to have his toys to play with and he has them all the time and no one else is allowed to touch his toys. If they do he shrieks and has a fit. He is going to start pre-school this year and I am a little nervous about it. I hope the teachers are specially trained to handle his particular problems.
