I will be taking my first scuba diving lessons tomorrow. I am quite excited and a little bit nervous. But my instructor told me that it will be fun. My wife will also be joining me. In fact there will be 5 of us taking scuba diving lessons. We hope to acquire a license after the program. Anyone here a scuba diver? I hope you can give me some tips or pointers on what are the things to expect and to be careful about....

Hiya jpsol, Hope you had great fun learning how to scuba dive. Did you have to have many Classes or was it easy. I hope you enjoyed it anyhow. Where did you learn then did the Instructor take you very far out and did you see any nice scenery underneath the water? I bet it was a great experience.

Yes, I did have fun. I was quite nervous at first but my instructor is very good and he was able to take out that fear. Besides we started with the lesson in the swimming pool. It was also very easy and in fact I find it much easier than plain swimming. After about 7 sessions, I earned my license already. Now, it has been a year already. I have gone to different diving sites already and have seen a lot of wonderful things underwater.

Yes, it really matters when you have a good instructor. Everything seems so good and easy. Thank you very much for the kind words and encouragement. I wish that you could also try it later on if in case you have not yet tried the activity. Best to you always!

Sir Jo, is that you (jpso138)? I am excited for this Wednesday's activity. Would you call it a fun dive? This is my first time to go SCUBA diving. I usually just go snorkeling and fish feeding, which i know is totally different! I've long before wanted to try SCUBA diving but I can't get any of my friends to go since it is expensive. And now I got the chance to go on a very affordable rate. Thank you so much!

I have tried scuba diving once. It was really a great experience and very fun indeed. I sure hope that I will be able to try it again. As of now, I am still a student and having a license will entail expenses. But who knows later on, I will be able to save for it. Good luck in your diving and enjoy.

Scuba diving.....How i wish i could do that! I have always loved the sea ever since i remember stepping into is cool waters and tasted it salty flavors.I have gone to the doctor to have the only thing stopping me for learning scuba diving and that is my perforated eardrum.Sadly the doctor said i will never be able to learn the one thing i terribly desire because i will kill myself in the process. He said i will someday do it if i get my ears fixed by transplanting a piece of skin on to it but it will cost me 100,000 Php and the preparations or the screening is very tedious and not to mention that my 100,000 Php can go down the drain if my ear rejects the transplant. Imagine i have to keep my ear dry and infection fee for 6 months straight, then the next 6 months i have to go to the doctor frequently to really prove that my ear is totally dry . So he will only decide if i am a good candidate for the transplant after a year! OMG! So the end to the story is i never did raise the 100,000Php and every now and then i do get water in my ear so.......Only in my dreams do i scuba dive.

Hi Carol, I am sorry to hear about your condition. I guess you will never be able to do scuba diving with such problem. But you need not worry about it. I am sure that there are other many things you can do worth exploring other than scuba diving. I do hope that you will soon be able to solve the problem in your ear.

Hi mar, you will definitely enjoy it. Usually at first you will feel a little bit uncomfortable considering that its your first time. You will feel some problems with your earn considering the change in pressure. Practically the only problem that you will encounter in scuba diving most especially if for the first time are the change in pressure, water entering your mask and your buoyancy. But all this things can be corrected and soon enough you will be enjoying your dive.

A lot of people told me that its really nice. I had my first session already. We started in the swimming pool and its really fun. It was not as hard as I thought it would be. In fact my 12 year old nephew who joined me was able to go through with the first sessions with ease.

I am also afraid of those deep sea diving. I am just starting out with the program. In fact we started in the swimming pool. It will be two more sessions in the pool before we go to the open water. Most likely we will be starting out not in any deep area.

Actually, I am not a scuba diver but I would love to learn how to do that. If I may ask, where are you going to have your scuba lessons and how much is the pay? How long does it take? I am sure that would be very much fun and scary (especially to sharks!heheh...) With that experience of yours, you would be experiencing the beauty of our marine life and as well as you can save more lives when there would be people needing help at the middle of the sea. Enjoy your lessons and Congratulations! Best of luck!

My instructor is just in our area. He has been diving for more than 30 years and can issue NAUI, PADI, CMAS. He was also the diving instructor of my sister who is now a rescue diver. The session would actually depend on performance after his assessment during every session. I can actually help you out if you are interested since I can always ask for a special price for you. I will send you a private message as to where you can contact me.

Yeah, I'm probably too much of a scaredy cat to go scuba diving. I wonder who you would call if you needed help? 911 just isn't going to cut it! Maybe Aqua Man? Tell me how it goes anyway. I still think it's very interesting! I would rather take a submarine to the ocean's floor though.

Hi there Rallon, I too have been scared when I started. Most especially the first and second session. You do have a point in so far is emergency is concerned since you cannot call 911. This is the reason why it is never good to dive without a diving buddy considering that no one can assist when you are alone and you are in distress.

Well, it was very exciting indeed. I love it. But of course during our first dive, I was really afraid considering that I have no experience. But later on, I was able to get the hang of it. I am even planning to go into Advance Level of diving. From time to time, I dive with my instructor and let other people try scuba diving. I even have a blog on my diving activities... You can view them here: http://basiclifesavingscubadiving.blogspot.com/ (not a referral link).

SCUBA is one of the best adventures in my life! :) The first time I had it was last March of this year. If we are on land, we see mountains; when we are below the sea level, we see deep! It's so marvelous, and SCUBA helped me to be more aware of protecting our environment. Anyways, I was just an intro diver then; what is important, DO NOT FORGET TO BREATHE THROUGH YOUR MOUTH :)

Yes, it is really great to go scuba diving. As my instructor always say... if you have not tried scuba diving, you only see 30 percent of the world. Remember that the earth is made up of 70 percent water and 30 percent land. Well, of course, whats important in scuba diving is as what you have said... do not forget to breath through your mouth... Hope you can try scuba diving once again.
