I have a short and unusual name. People sometimes thought that I am a guy when they haven't met me yet. My mom named me from a tennis player she liked then did some modification. And poof! That's my name now. LOL.. I don't have regrets about it. I'm just thinking about if I have the chance to change it, I'd like to have three to two names.
I love to have a name like Dominique, Antonette, Francheska. If ever I want to be named as Zharina Danielle Elise. Maybe I could name that to my future daughter since I can't change my name now.
How about you? Do you like your name now? Do you have particular names that you like???

Dear jenskye03,
Wonderful topic of discussion! Just love it... great response too :)
I am having the same situation as yours. Having a boy's name!
You looks so beautiful and lady like... to have a guys name..??
My father admired the 3 most powerful countries in the world..
namely USA (America), so...there goes my eldest sister name.
The USA was pronounced in Chinese (Mandarin) then converted
into romanized, thanks God it is appropriate for girl's name!
Then Russia...converted to Chinese then romanized it..wow..
nice girl's name for my second elder sister.
Now...the third powerful country at that point of time...
Germany....converted to Chinese (guy's name) romanized it...
~ confirmed boy's name! Imagined me having a guy's
name for the rest of my life!
Every year..year in year out, never failed as and when the first day
of school started, teacher with the name list will start calling...
my name was called..I stand up....the teacher shocked, jaw dropped...
I thought you are a boy because it is a boy's name! I am totally
immuned now! lol
So, my second sister gave me Iriene...so it stick to me whenever
possible! To change the name NOW...I already being laughed too long.
No, I have build a good rapport with that name, so it is allright!

Hello friend!
You're story is funny.
Hmmmm.. I also have some little problems with my name from school. My professor sometimes list my name to the male students not knowing that I'm a girl. LOL.. But right now, it is ordinary for me when people thought I'm a guy.
Well I think having a guy's name is cool because you seem stronger having a guy's name.
Thank you for responding!
See you around! ^^

Dear jenskye03,
You got a very good point there...I like it
and I think it has some truth there!
With a guy's name, we seems (subconciously) more
independent..I can go to cinema, meal, shopping,
gathering, survey by my own, no need a friend to
escort...but this bravery has loose its hold lately
when I got married, I begins to rely on my husband
more...'pampered / 'manja'...
I like to do guy's thing, like watching suspense movies,
guy's games..like to watch football, etc..
Tks and hope to see you around more often too..

I love my name but if I could I'd change my last name only because I'm carrying my ex-husband's name. It's not an ugly name just need a new one and it get mispronounced all the time.

My children have the same name and I just kept it. Besides there's a chance I'll be getting married next year and it's just a hassle to change my name yet again. Plus my surname is boring. It's phillips I mean seriously it's a bore.

when we get married and divorce we always want to change our name again. Some hyphen their name. I say leave it alone because like you said think of the kids when they get older and marry are they going to hyphen their name its going to get too long to put on paper.Be proud of your name the person who gave you that name was proud to give it to you for a reason.

I don't want to change my name to anything else. It's a common name I have. There use to be 2 other people in my schooling classes that have the same name as me but I wouldn't want to change it since I've grown up with it and changing my name to something else seems to be like trying away a part of my own identity.

I actually quite like my name. I think it is beautiful it fits me great, but if I had to change me name it would want it to be Camille. I think that is the only name that I would like to have other than the name I have right now. I think that if I have a daughter when I get older, I would name her Camille, because I believe it is such a beautiful name to have.

Good day jenskye03,
I think I am very satisfied with my name, although it is very popular and a lot people have the name that I have. But during my high school days I have thought that why my parents gave me that name, I asked them that but they that they just gave it. I know that I can't changed it so what I did is I just give my nickname, and when I join some forums I used a pseudonym.

why I haven't done that?? Hmmm.. sounds like a good idea..
I could make Danielle or Zharina my nickname even though its really not related to my real name.. LOL!
Thanks for responding! ^^

When I was younger I used to want to change my name. I don't now, though. I am content with the one I was given. Coming up with names for my two daughters was a pain. I think that's when I realized I was just happy that I had a name! LOL

my name is Pratyush, Sanskrit origin and steers a lot of confusion in the minds of the hearer. I've hardly met anyone who hasn't asked my name twice. Its very confusing and very unique too. I love my name, I love it when there's a new teacher in class asking everyone's names and when my turn's coming, I tell my friends, "Look out now, I bet he/she'll ask me again... "

I was named after my grandmother who passed away after a week I was born. On my younger years, I felt everytime somebody called me with my full name it seems he or she's mad it me. I have nothing against my grandma but am not really satisfied with my name, that's why with my three children I see to it that I'd given them names they would love, like, cherry Fe, Charo Mae and Christian Jay. Should I can choose a name for me, I would prefer a two names combination which express something sweet or pleasant to hear.

I also like having two names. My name is short and sounds like a guy's name. LOL!

The only thing I would change about my name would be to find some way to put an 'R' in it. For some odd reason, 'R' is my favorite letter. hehe What I do like about my name, particularly my last name, is that it has an 'L', an 'S' and a 'U' in it, which tickles me, because LSU is my favorite university.
As far as a name that I like that isn't my own, I would have to say something like "Elisabetta Simone-Juliette" for a girl, and "Dominic Thomas" for a boy. that that's such a beautiful name.

haha.. Why you like the letter R?
any special case about that letter?
I don't have a favorite letter in particular though..

I think my parents gave me a very meaningful and beautiful name. I like it and it's very too normal. so I don't think i would like to change it even i have a chance.
My problem with my name is some people could not pronounce it properly. It is a little upset sometimes when i hear wrong pronouncement and wrong writting. To be honest the character of my name is very normal. I think for average educated people it's not problem. however some people do make mistakes with it.
so if i have chance i would try to let more people know the meaning of my name instead of changing it.
happy mylotting.

I have a simple and common name but I don't have any plan to change it even if I will be given the chance to do so. My name is Paul John and I'm usually annoyed because they are always interchanging the words to "John Paul" especially in school. But like what I've said, I will not change it because I treat it as the very first gift from my parents.

I really don't like my first name. It's very short and common. And I don't even have a second name. Just a short first name. That's why I always use alias when I'm introducing myself to people but I'll tell them my real name also then explain.
So If I have a chance to change my name I would probably do it, but I haven't thought about the new name. Some says Christian really fits on me. hehe

My nickname is very far from my real name also. My classmates and friends always told me where did you get that nickname from your name. I always answered, "I dunno, my parents give them to me", and they will start calling me by my nickname which is sounds really silly actually. I think Christian sounds cool but I don't really feel it fits me. I think Ramon is better, just kidding. ^^ I always give that name to people I first met and they will say you are no "Ramon". Always helps me making friends also. True Story! :)

I like my name. I think it suits me, my middle name too, but I hate my last name. I think it is so ugly. I don't know if I will ever get married or if the guy I would marry would have a desirable last name, so I was considering changing it in the future, no time soon, but I'm not sure if I really ever will. Though I have been having fun thinking up last names for myself.

Hmmm.. Look for a husband that has a nice surname so your problems will be over. LOL!

Thanks for responding! ^^

Interesting topic.
I think i am pretty happy with my name. As i have a chinese name and english name, i love both of them. Because when people hear my name or read my name, they feel that i must be a pretty girl. That makes me happy. lol...
I haven't thought about the name for my next gernation yet.
