A lot of us tried eating paella which is commonly serve in a spanish restaurant. But when we droped by this restaurant we found out that they are serving paella negra, sounds interesting, so we gave it a try. they told us that its only served during lenten season, and to be honest it taste better than the regular paella. Squid Ink made the paella black.

Paella is my favourite meal, but I've never tried Paella Negra. I'm not all that keen on squid, so I don't think I'd like it. I love rabbit and chicken paella, and also seafood paella, though. We have a restaurant about two miles from us which serves a different paella first course every night, and we go as often as we can.

Does your local place make it in one of those gigantic paella pans which feed about fifty people? I haven't had paella for years and would go for your seafood one, I wouldn't want one with just squid, I find it too rubbery after a while.

Hello, Thea. Yes, the restaurant makes a big pan of paella each night, and serves it up on a plate as the first course. Restaurants that serve a whole variety of paellas as second courses will only make it for a minimum of 2 people, and they are cooked in smaller pans which are brought to the table for you to serve yourself. About 3 times a year, there's a fiesta in the village, and then they make enough paella to feed about 300 people over an open fire. I'm going to try to upload a photo, but don't hold your breath!

Fantastic picture Sandra. I don't know where you've put it, it was on the side of my home page.
