How do you deal with sinus problems?

My Husband's sinus problems have been acting up really badly recently. I don't know what to do to help him. He can't sleep and is constantly stuffy and sneezing.

My DH used to think he was getting sick all the time, then he learned that it was allergies. Now if he feels a tickle in his throat or a stuffy nose, he takes 2 or 3 benedryl at bed time and then he's much better in the morning. He usually does this for several days. He also has Claritin for the day time, but doesn't us that too much.

Thanks for your answer. He does that sometimes and it really does work. He doesn't do it for days though, just one night. I'll tell him to try it for several nights.

Thanks. I'll tell him about the Loratadine. Claratin doesn't work for him though.

Spicy foods, and even cook with fresh garlic. that should help your husband's sinus problem.

Thanks. I thought of these too. We usually use fresh garlic. I did suggest the spicy foods but he doesn’t like pepper.

Thanks for your reply. I think he's starting to get resistant to his medicines. We need to at least change the brand.

if you know about pranayama in yoga then try it for your husband . Ask a Yoga mentor to teach it . this has great controlling power for sinusitis

I think you can try Pranayam or Yoga s a cure.I have found a site that has some accupressure techmiques to help you with healing.try it for you husband too http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/21/190.cfm Or you can ask for diatant healing through reiki.I asked them for my feet and they have started to heal and its been only a day.Give it a try at this site: http://www.reiki.org/ I have actually benfitted from them.

Believe it or not I think good ol' fashioned menthol, either through Vicks (rub) or some other rub is quite helpful. If I am ever feeling like a sore throat is coming on, which is usually a sign of things to come I rub down with Vicks and the next day I am usually much better. Also, have you tried Green Tea? I have been recommending that to all my friends for anything that ails them. I used to have a lot of colds (which I believe resulted from sinusitis, but I could be wrong) and since I started drinking green tea on a regular basis, I have not been ill or to the doctor in more than two years. I used to try all the recommended things like inhaling steam to clear up stuffiness, or taking Allegra and staying away from dairy which I thought used to aggravate my sinuses but none of those were really foolproof, the only thing that has assured me of wellness is green tea, the pure one that you get in a big green box with like 100 bags in it (at Hilo!) for just about $25 TTD but I do recommend you buy it elsewhere because that Hilo brand kinda tastes like dirt to me,...maybe it's organic I don't know...! These days I never inhale steam unless I am cooking, and I still drink dairy occasionally and as long as I have my green tea (with a hint of lemon or plain) and my Vicks, I am good to go! Hope you find your cure!!
