When you hear about "Philippines" which thing comes first in your mind?

i think that foreigners would remember our country for its beaches, and the various tourist spots and out penchant for malls despite our being a 'developing' country.
anyway, on the negative,. some people could also connect us to the abusayyaf terrorst group.
so what thing comes first in your mind when you hear philippines? i'd love to know. all responses are accepted

lol. Douglas Mcarthur! thanks for the feedback, he does have a statue here that reenacts his Return to the philippines, the statue looks like it's walking to the shore fro the sea.

Hello kukaisiton. Whenever I think of the Philippines, I think of those beautiful islands, big or small. I have been longing to having enough money for a visit to the beautiful country with the beautiful sea around. I wish this dream of mine could come true some day. Take care, friend.

hi williamjisir.we do have a lot of islands here that are famous for the white sand beaches. i wish you could visit. well if youve heard about boracay,that's totally the a great tourist destination. thanks for the positive feedback

Well, terrorism is certainly not something that comes to my mind when I think of the Philippines. I think of two things, the main one being nice people. I've met only a couple people from the Philippines in person, but just from being on mylot I'm impressed how kind everyone seems to be.

When I think about Philippine the first imagine came to my mind is many islands and huge water surfaces. I don’t know why? Maybe when I was young I was told the country is located in south of Asia and has many islands. Now I’m not sure about it because I feel my memory is getting vague.
Last I had visitors from Dubai. It’s a couple. The wife was born in Philippine and the husband is British. Now they both work in Dubai. The wife told me a lot about Philippine. Then I realised the country is very Americanized. My friend has very strong American accent when she talks, even she has married a British man for many years.

When ever i think of my Home land. I think of a few words; Freedom, Democracy, Rally and struggle to fight corruption. and last but not the least, Patriotism on your country.well, second to that is nice places and very accommodating and helping people. so many resources, talents and places to go to for a vacation. not to mention, different dialects and tribes.

that's true. that issue is still going on here and in other asian coutries like cambodia, etc. it really is sad but it's also true. thanks for the response

Hi Kukaiston,
For me when i think of "Philippines" I always think of knid gentle people who welcome you no matter where you come from, well that is what I always think, but yes there good and bad in every country, but I do like the people in Philippines as I have loads of mylot friends from there.
