Working at a Youth Detention Center in GA for over 15 years, I see a change in the way youth act in this day and time. With over thousands and thousands of youth in the system around the world, is there truly a way to undo the damage that is done. Is it the music, the tv or juat this generation, personally, I feel it is this generation. During my teen we ahd hardrock, rap, gangsta rap and alot of the same music that is out today, but parents and senators need people to blmae, instead of saying that kids today are evil and manipulative. Should they be housed in centers, that really don't teach them much, with kids just as bad as they are, if you are old enough to do adult crimes, they should be doing adult time. It's far time, that we start holding the kids accountable for what they do, and stop blaming others for the mistakes they make. It's always the parent didn't do this, the parent didn;t do that, just tell the truth kids are bad, because they see their friends do it, then theu wanna do it. If it's monkey see monkey do, give them the same time, and stop making plea deals with them.

Their have been so many changes through the years, i know that it was a lot different when i was growing up, We had respect you do not see that anymore in the new generations. Also discipline is not the same now as it was back in the day.
You are so right when you say the punishment should fit the crime.
I do not know what the answers are or how to fix the problems we are now facing, but it is getting worst, not better, and the offenders are getting younger.

The answer is simpler, the camps should be age based, from 11- 13 should be in a semi-lock down facilty, with a somewhat military style training program,13-16 should be housed in a more military-prison like set up that uses excercises and peer training to get the child focued on what he is doing , 16 amd up should be sent to prison if the crime warrants it, when a child hurts an adult an nothing is done, the system is failing them. When the system fails us, the kids, and the citizens, all the money we spend on the state to do a job, and all tehy are doing is getting paid, what do we get the bottom of the barrel.
