Are you open minded in your beliefs about your religion?

What I mean is, do you consider other religions, and other beliefs, before you came to believe what you do? I know a few religious people, who believe in their religion, but know nothing about other religions. Yet, they think those other religions are wrong. So, do you look to other religions, and see if they are right or wrong for you, or do you just believe what you believe, and don't care what other religions there may be? I'm interested in finding out more about anybodies religious beliefs, although I consider myself Agnostic. I don't believe in any one, but I would like to know as much about each religion as I possibly can.

I lived in 6 different countries and learned a great deal about different religeons and cultures. I must say all religeons are basicaly the same with a few exaptions. there are a few religeons that stand out but they are not very popular. I myself am an atheist, mainly because i studied a lot of religeons and realized that they are all trying to hide something that we should know. Every religeon has some very good points though and i think it is important for everyone to study religions even if they don't belive in god, simply because it's not only about god.

Even though I am Jewish, the woman that raised me sent me to 6 years of catholic school and I had to go to church every day. I would say I know a lot about the catholic church. I also used to go to church occasionally with my neighborhood friends,(anything to keep from going to mass). I went to Synogague whenever Dad could take me. As an adult, I attended different churches and Synogogues with various friends because I did not become active in Synogogue until about 10 years ago. I wasn't searching for a church or anything, I just hadn't found a Synogogue I wanted to attend. When I found one I liked, I stuck with it. I would say I am very open minded about religion. There are things I do not accept personally about various religions, but if you like it it is fine with me. Shalom~Adoniah

Hi themdno, I am not at all a religious person. In fact I am against all religions in their present form. I belong to a religion because I am born into one. Other than that religion does not really mean much to me.As far as I am concerned, it is the people who are important, not what religion they practice...But I have read most of the religious scriptures of Islam,Christianity,Sikhism,Jainism and of course Hinduism, into which I was born. Believe me they all preach the same thing and have all been misinterpreted by their leaders for their own benefit...

I believe all religions are branches of the same tree. If you really want to know 'Truth', then chop down the tree and plant yourself in the ground and watch what may grow out of your own well digested experience. I imagine most religions were founded or inspired by some one who experienced "something" profound and life changing and who wished to share it and to express it in some form or other. I believe much of what passes for religion today is not much more than a remnant of 'something' that may or may not have been real at some point or to some individual or group of individuals. For all I know Jesus Christ could be nothing more than a figment of somebody's imagination that just happened to catch on. I agree with G.I. Gurdjieff who said that most people who call themselves Christians have no right to do so. It's one thing to be a "Christian" in that your are a member of somebody brand (denomination) of Christianity, but to be Christian is something entirely different. Neitzche tells us the the Church represents the opposite of what Jesus supposedly represents according to the Gospels. Organized religion has, it seems to me, been more of a curse to the world than a blessing. People killing each other in the name of their conception of God. At best Organized Religions are but monuments to "Something". The 'God' you can believe in does not exist; only the God you know is real, and the only God I know is the One inside of me at the core of my Being; and One in me is the same One in you. Either you get it or you don't. Does not Jesus say that the "Kingdom of God is within you" in the Gospel according to Mark? "God?" A word that represents some supposedly incomprehensible and imperishable supreme Reality. Nirvana is just as good a word for that same Reality. Consciousness is the key to understanding what's what.

If you believe what I believe then I commend you for being open minded. If you do not share my reasoned and sound beliefs than you are closed minded and ignorant.

Hello themdno!!! I am very much open minded in case of religions. I don't like myself to stick up to one particular religion and want to divide myself in that category. I would rather prefer to learn the various things from various religion. Every religion has the good and the bad points. Its not that a religion is totally good and is totally bad. I may discussion in some matters of the religions too here in mylot. So, rather than choosing myself as a one particular religion I would prefer to take good things from each religion and apply then in my life. That becomes my own new religion. So, I have to say I am very much open minded in this case. But sometimes, I like to discuss very much especially in the case of religions when it comes to believing in the superstitious things. My parents ask me to do various superstitious things, that I hate to do them. Yes, it is always interesting to know about various religions and get maximum knowledge about them. This knowledge of various religions really makes us intelligent and wise than believing blindly in one particular religion. So keep exploring about the religions, that is very nice thing to do... Happy mylotting...

I have been to a number of different churches, but i do not belong to one. I consider my self a Christan. I believe in God. I try to live my life the best way that i can. What i have found is that different churches even in the same religion interpret things differently. So i have found that the best thing for me is just to follow the simple rules found in the Ten commandments, and also the rule do unto others as you would want people to do unto you. also when it comes to judging some on else i always think of what Jesus said i might not quote this excatley right but i think about when he said if you are with out sin you can cast the first stone. I also believe that we were all given free will to make our own decisions about our lives, and that we will have to answer for the choices that we make. I do not know what religion that i fall in to, but i do consider myself open minded, and open to new things.

All religions should be treated with fairness, and often I will treat those who are religious the same way they will treat me as someone who doesnt really believe in it. Everyone needs religion to comfort them. It will answer everything you dont know and a mighty one will give you guidance and protection when youre going through a tough time. Everyone is inheriently wrong, because there is no real way to know whats right. Science, which is kinda my religion, can explain somethings, but other things still keep me up at night, those who believe in God can just rely on his protection to help them fall asleep, but often they are proven wrong by science. Religion is all about having protection from the unknown.

I think there's nothing to argue with this kind of matter.Whatever religion a person has.We only have one God.We just have different names for Him.But still he is just One.

Well, I do respect other peoples belief. Every person adhere to something they think is good for themselves. I am a devote roman catholic and I believe that my belief as a catholic as well as my faith in Christ will bring me salvation.

Different religions have different beliefs. My one cousin tell me once that I wasn't holy because I went to public school. This did not bother me because I understood that was what he was being told through his church. (Plus he was only 8 at the time). When I was little I went to church because it was the church my parents went to. Now I do not belong to one church because I have various beliefs that do not fit into just one church. I do consider myself open and spiritual. I have a lot of friends and some are devout to the their religions. Of course you get some that say their religion is the only one and everthing else is wrong. But that is what they are taught. Find what is right for you and something that has the same beliefs as you.

I was brought up as a Lutheran (and still am), but I think it's interesting to see what others believe. I don't think a religion is really right or wrong. It is what it is.
