Hi who is your favourite Ice Skater of all time? Irina Slutskaya, Sasha Cohen? Kazakova and Dmitriev, Plushenko, Todd Eldredge, Philippe Candeloro they have all entertained us and delighted many with their performances on Eurosport and other Sports Channels. Sorry I don´t know any Speed Skaters but you can mention them too. Just wondering how many people know these Ice Skaters?

She looks very good there and set for the future by the look of it. We should be seeing her in the Worlds Ice Skating Championships of the future.
She would have to be at least 15 years of age to compete.
Glad she is your favourite Skater would be mine too.

@DianneN
She would have to learn the triple lutz and the double axle and triple salchow and triple loop and learn how to spin like Irina Slutskaya (Slooshskaya) and so on.
She has a long way to go yet yes but she will get there I think. Has the poise already.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Lol! She has lots to learn, but loves skating so much. Her coaches have sent many girls to Nationals. We shall see.

Hi bunnybon,
Not sure about that one as I have not been able to see Eurosport for ages they don´t have Satellite here and I don´t think they ever will.
I do get to see about 5 minutes of something but that´s only if I dilligently go looking for it on the New Sports Channels that I cannot ever record as I have´nt got a Decoder either.
So it´s just a matter of having to see what and where I can.
I do go to Youtube though and see what´s going on on there.
Take care now.

Hiya bunnybon7,
I think the Male Ice Skater you refer to is Scot Hamilton? He had cancer in a similar part of him not exactly prostrate you can look him up in Wikipedia.
I watched a repeat Ice Skating Championship just about 5 mins and it sparked the memory of what you asked me so here it is I think he would probably be the one you are thinking of. Kurt Browning has not been ill with this Cancer as far as I have read up to now.
Have a great Day bunnybon and enjoy this time all you can.

I have seen all of them perform. My favorite is Dorothy Hamill. I love Kazakova and Dmitriev too. I was really sad when Championships on Ice folded.

PS One year my sister got backstage passes to Champions on Ice. Philippe Candeloro stayed and signed autographs for everybody even though they were trying to hustle all the skaters onto the bus.

Hiya Dawn.,Philippe Candeloro I have to say is really one of my favourite Skaters a lot of expression goes in there. I still watch him on youtube sometimes and I never tire of seeing him doing the Godfather, Three Musketeers and so on Philippe is some Philippe. Viva Philippe Candeloro and he really is a generous person too and genuine. What a shame we can´t see more of these Skaters on Television or in Dvds.

Hi Dawn,
Kazakova and Dmitriev had my full attention the day they won the Second Olympic Gold Medal but not because of the medal itself but for the performance they gave just beautiful.
I can´t wait to get Eurosport back again seven years without Satellite lol thought I would never make it. Spanish Television gives very poor transmissions of Ice Skating now and you have to be on the ball to catch the program it´s never anounced it´s just used as a fill in thing.
Thanks for you comment take care all.

I dont really follow ice skating at all - tho' when I was a kid, I always fancied being one! My brother and I would put on a pair of dad's thick socks, push back the furniture and 'skate' across the lino! I only ever tried real ice skating once and i couldnt let go of the edge without falling over. I guess I wasnt destined for a career on the ice after all

Hiya Wizzy,
Wanted to be a ballet Dancer when I was small so I had a pair of sandals that lasted me forever and I was able to dance on the tips of my toes or should I say on the tips of my sandals better. When the sandals grew too small goodbye such good ballet dancing as I had to wear those "Tuf" Girl Shoes yuk and you could not dance in those and I did not have any special slippers either. Obviously I was not allowed to Dance outside in my socks (grin) But I did try to imitate other Dancers and Ice Skaters I very often do an Irina Slutskaya but she does it much better than me of course. At the Ice Rink in Birmingham I held onto the sides too as my Boots were killing me and my ankles ached like mad the next Day.
I think all in all I will leave it to them the Professionals like Irina bravo Irina.

Hello, Sue. Just found this one. My favourite skaters are still entertaining us now - I mean Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. I've always found their enthusiasm and technical ability mesmerising, and now 'Dancing on Ice' is back on tv, I won't go anywhere on a Sunday evening. I also used to enjoy watching Robin Cousins and John Curry.

Hello, again. I live in Algorfa, which is inland from the coast, near Torrevieja, between the Escotera mountains and miles of orange groves. We're not allowed individual dishes, but we have one for our urbanisation, and another one erected by a big company. We're with the latter, as they have a better mix of the channels we like - not that we watch a lot of tv, but it's nice to keep up, and I do have my favourites like Dancing on Ice, Midsomer Murders and Coronation Street.
I love it where we are, because we're in the countryside, yet we're only 10 - 15 minutes from the coast and the bigger towns, so you don't feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere. The expats in Algorfa integrate well with the locals, and we even have a councillor who's responsible for organising events where everyone can get together.
I go to belly dancing classes on Mondays, and there are only two of us English there, but we have a great time, and we improve our Spanish by chatting as much as we can to the locals. Last week, we had to tell the Spanish ladies what we'd done over the weekend in Spanish, then they did the same in English. It wasn't perfect, but it was great fun, and it helped us all.

Hiya Sandra,
Have been close to there but again here in the North it is not the same television wise you have to have a Satellite Dish of your own otherwise you just grin and bear it. I have not seen British Television for seven Years or more now except for what I get to see on Youtube.
Glad you are settled where you are I love Orange trees as well and the smell of their flowers.
We are quite a way inland and you can get to feel quite isolated if you let it get to you my kids have grown up here so it would be more difficult for me to uproot anyway but I am more settled nonetheless.
I don´t have anyone to go home and see anyway so it does make it less of a burden on me as well when I feel homesick which I still get every so often.

Hiya Sandra,
Actually I cannot have any British Channels of any kind as we live in a rented place and you can´t put up any Satellite Receiver of any kind, no dogs, no cats no anything lol. So I can´t get Eurosport or any other or other Packages of any kind my Husband and the Kids don´t much care for these Channels anyway so I have to put up with scouring Youtube to find anything I want. I´ll be able to see the Olympics in bits and pieces all in Spanish though that´s what you get when you live here.
Neighbours only have their own selected Channels in Euskera and all that so it´s just a case of getting to see what you can. Anyway thanks very much for the information. I would have to go and live on the Coast and that would mean a lot of money for me and besides none of these lot wants to go and live either. I really miss Eurosport and Sky News too but there you go that´s life.

I'd have to say my favorite figure skater of all time is Kurt Browning! He literally dances on the ice and I just love his artistic talents as well as his technical abilities. His footwork is awesome and to the beat . . . he is just wonderful to watch! Let's just say he is the total package.
I do know all the skaters you mentioned . . . I am a figure skater myself! Oh, and a favorite speed skater of mine is Apolo Ohno . . . I just loved his style!

Hiya much2say,
Right on I love Kurt Browning too it´s just that all the Sports Channels are now pay for ones and apart from that you never know when they are going to be on. I have always liked watching Kurt Browning he is very artistic and would have liked to have seen him on the Podium more than once. Ice Skating is a really underestimated Sport but there you go. One Ice Skater that I thought would have made a good Speed Skater is Julia Lavrenchuk although she is or was a Figure Skater skated far too fast to be able to do all those technical things properly must be really frustrating for her like she overshoots the Runway all the time but for power and speed for me I have not seen anyone faster than Julia.
Julia is great to watch but I don´t know what has become of her.

Phillipe Candeloro always knew how to come up with very spectacular programs, with a very fine touch in the artistic part. He might have not been the best figure skater ever, but he remains in my memory for the shows he always prepared and beautifully performed on ice. His acting in Disney's Mulan fantasy on ice alongside Michelle Kwan is also exceptional.

Hi stvasile,
Philippe Candeloro was always exciting to watch who could care if he landed a triple axle or not he was very entertaining. Favourite performances of Candeloro all of them. The Three Musketeers, Braveheart, The Godfather and the grin he put on his face in the Olympics when he landed in that sit down spin. Very powerful and inspiring to watch. Miss being able to watch him. Thanks for your response. Take care.

Hi funandgames,
I like Kurt Browning too when I was able to watch Eurosport at the other flat. Here am not able to. But he was really entertaining although I only watched him a few times I always wanted him to be on the podium.
