Reading the news today I was shocked to read an article about a female Sudanese journalist who is on trial for wearing pants in a cafe. Not tight fitting jeans, just loose unshapely black pants. 10 other women in the cafe (also wearing pants) were fined and flogged but this journalist along with two others is taking her case to court. The journalist has revoked her amnesty (as she works for a un department) to prove her point and get the law abolished.
I think it is apalling that in this day and age opressed women are still treated so inhumanly in some countries. I hope she wins her case and this law against women is made obsolete.
Her lawyer as well as many protesters have been beated up for supporting her.
How do you think the rest of the world should intervene? Do you support her case?

really it is unbelievable. this kind of behavior should come to an end immediately. i just hope that all the people globally get together and force the governments of such countries to totally make radical changes in this regard and punish the perpetrators.

Now I think that's unfair for the woman journalist. On this day and age, it's really good for the women to wear comfortable clothes and in her case, pants, so woman can really move easily. Journalists are supposed to be active and always on the go and literally on the run so wearing pants is just right. We women should choose whatever we like to dress in any manner as long as it's not "exposure" or that would be something else.
what is inhuman is beating innocent women.

I agree with you completely. It's actually ridiculous that these archaic sorts of punishments are still given out to women in some parts of the world. Women and men should be able to wear whatever they wish. In fact theres nothing immodest about wearing pants and they are comfortable and easy to move around in.
I believe that these punishments were implemented to beat fear into the opressed women so they wouldn't speak out. This is such a sad scenario, and I wish the journalist the best of luck and my full support. She is truely brave willing to even die to make a difference for women of the future.
Thanks for responding.
