I used to chat with my eldest sis via Yahoo Messenger (YM) when she was still living abroad. Since my niece also wanted to chat with me, so, we used the emotes to communicate, which was cute and funny. She was only 3+ at that time. Anyway, since this is my very first emote in myLot, to everyone here.

Oh, yes. I had chat using emoticons before. I learnt from my son on how to use emoticons during chatting. But not anymore now. I find that chatting thru Yahoo Messenger is a waste of time. I prefer to spend my time responding to myLot as I can make money.lol.

You are right, James! But chatting via YM with your family or friends is totally not the same with lotting he he he... and oh, you can also use those smilies in here, though. So, you can make money at the same time express your emotions with those emotes, but they are very limited.

Oh yes,
Using emoticons to chat is really fun! Those emoticons
in 'chat' are so much variety and 'animated'...truly
fascinating! My son will use his Lenovo netbook and
I will be on my PC, at times we just chat to each other
in the same hall....just for the fun of it! He likes to
use all kind of emoticons that he can get...these emoticons
has so much expressions!
At times I will disturb my son to mimic those emoticons
espressions...We will laugh about it
Thanks for the first 'emote', it is so nice!
Cheers and do keep in touch!

Finally... someone who understood what I meant ha ha... Since the emotes are very expressive, we sometimes just don't need all the words. That was so cute of you and your son. I could imagine the silence and sudden laughter. As I mentioned above, my niece was 3+ back then, so, she would sent me kisses, teddy bears and I did the same thing. When I sent her an emote putting on a lipstick, my sis told me that she thought that it was funny and she giggled a lot!

Not to mention those 'audibles' in YM, they are funny! Anyway, thanks for participating, Irene. Hope to see you more in my discussions.

Hi,
thanks for your prompt reply :)
You are fantastic, you are absolutely right.
As we type..there will be silent, then a sudden laughter!
Seeing all the funny expression and actions of those smileys.
Some myLotters here have cute and adoreable smileys as their
avatar especially 'dbutheking, 'mysDianaIT', 'jhelaichie'...
Cheers and do keep in touch

Actually, I was going to type Chat using emoticons ONLY. Sorry for the error. However, I agree with you that emotes are part of the communications and they express better than some words except that I can get confused if they are jumbled up with words and excessively used.

I used to do that last time but as I use it for a longer time I find it quite annoying at time because it is so hard to read the words or sentences that are being typed. But indeed it is very nice and fun and more interactive when using emoticons for chatting and no doubt it shows your emotions and expressions better too.

I bet if you read my comments to the responses above you would notice that there was an error hehe... but never mind. I agree with you when there are too many emotes in between those words or sentences like you said, it is a bit difficult to read properly, right?! Fun and interactive?? Agree! Agree!!

He he... yeah, I agree with you. There are different types of emotes and some are just so funny and silly, but I like it.

I always use emoticons when I chat. I often find that words are insufficient to communicate what I want others to hear. As its said only 20% of ur communication with other happen with words. I find it essential to have emoticons when I chat. Atleast the smiles, cry and angry. Happy mylotting.

Actually, I was going to type Chat using emoticons ONLY... Anyhow, you've got a point there. That's what I was trying to say when I mentioned about my niece. She couldn't spell at that time, so, she would send me a teddy, hugs etc. and no text.
