Why you not put real your fhoto ....

ok well firstly in my case, i love the office so i just wanted to show my love and secondly, i just don't feel comfortable showing my face to strangers when i'm online. anything can happen and i just feel really uncomfortable. also my friends might see me online and they usually make fun of me so that's no fun. :(

Seriously, I have several good reasons not to post my own photo. * "I have a face made for radio," as the saying goes, so "I like to refrain from frightening the horses in the streets." * The pic I have up is one of favorite pics of my favorite TV actors, the wowgorgeous Garett Maggart. * Hackers who are good can find out your real name. Giving one a pic gives them far too much info! Once I wrote a letter to a local rag, & a reader showed up on my doorstep. He had a rifle in his truck. Fortunately, he agreed with me, but what if he hadn't? I don't give my opinions out to get famous.... Another time, a man who'd loved my voice (I had a radio show) actually traveled to the station from quite a distance to meet me. He never returned; I think he had a different image in mind. And those were my good-looking days! * Last, & least, I haven't any pics of me less than 15 years out of date anyway. I could get a pal to take one, but then, we're back to reason one. why not your real photo? Hey Advokatku, I don't see what the big deal is, I am using my real photo. Although that isn't exactly the way that I look in my real every day life but it's close enough. I guess people have all kinds of reasons for choosing to use or not use their real photo. I do happen to know that if you are looking to get more referrals they will probably be more likely to sign up if they realize that you are a real person and if you have a smile on your face then it will make you more approachable. So that's just a little tip I thought I would share. I really kind of doubt that I would ever run into any mylotters in my every day life, so hey, why not put up real photos as we are all supposed to be friendly to one another. But then again, one can never be too careful. Good thing we all have freedom of choice around here. Happy mylot!

There is no real reason why i do not have a picture of myself on my avatar, if you look around the site i have posted pictures in the categories of my interest. I feel my avatar now "suits" me. Sometimes if people post their pictures as their avatar they can be judged before people even bother to read their responses. I would rather be judged on my intelligence level than my looks.

Dear Advokatku, I don't think people post other pictures on their profile because they are shy or they are hidding something. As far as I am concerned, what matters on MyLot is what people have to say and their intelligence, replying to discussions and what really matters is their opinion. For the first time I am on a site where looks "don't matter". Besides this is not a dating site! The reason why I have chosen this picture for my profile is because I am a member of another site called Tagged.com and that is the picture I have on that profile. I've been trying to reffer and invite all of my 440 friends (from all over the world) I have on Tagged to this beautiful and fun site called MyLot. :) So, I thought once they sign up they see my profile picture that they know me by. Now, that doesn't mean that I am hiding behind some fake picture. You are more than welcome to go to my profile and if you go under "photo" you will see my real pictures. I only posted two photo's on here because again, those don't matter on this site. As far as Tagged goes, I have over 100 photos because that site is a let's see how many friends I can get type of site. Totally different than MyLot. Oh yeah and people BS for free...LOL... Not too long ago I was watching CNN News and someone copy a lady's baby picture from one of those sites she was a memeber at and created their SCAM site with it. Check this out....An adoption agency. These people were scaming others for money and at the end...No baby! I hope this reflects a little light on your question. And remember, everybody is different and some of us out there head bad experiences posting their real pictures. That doesn't make us bad people, just cautious people. Nothing wrong with that. These days with the internet the sky is the limit. And that is scary what some out there can do. All of us have to be very careful and take precaution to what is happending around us and try our best to prevent trouble. Take care my friend! PS: Great photo by the way! :)

well I was never found of putting photos with me .. though I did it many times but here I've been using this one since I joined here so I keep it as my "symbol" since it's also a drawing of mine the ones that know me will recognize me. I'm also the type that likes to be a little hidden I don't want to be seen like to be a little mysterious too lol. Nice try frined but this one remains so XD

I dont like to throw my picture around willy nilly as we all should have a degree of privacy around us even' here on mylot.once we get to know our friends well we can exchange photos but if a stranger gets it I would be very upset.

I rarely use a photo of me. I just don't like most of the photos of myself. However, I do try to keep my photo consistent. I don't like it when people change it constantly and then I don't always recognize who they are! So, mine rarely changes. Right now it's the cover of the book I wrote. I'll probably leave it that way forever!

Let me tell you a true little story about a friend of mine and another similar site. This friend put their real photo on their profile and didn't think anything about it. This friend used the site properly and within the rules. Then one day this friend was walking down the street and someone recognized them from their photo online and basically started having a go at them over a comment they had made on the site. Now we all try to use sites within the rules but often someone will take offence to something you may say, often taking it out of context. For this reason I choose not to show my real identity on line as the last thing I want is offline hassle from someone who recognizes me.

Internet is a place where people can be anything. They can be a beautiful princess or a handsome hunk or a superhero. Most of the avatar pictures are of characters each person like or TV series they watch. This is one reason. Animated avtars or flowers or anime avatars are attractive. I like gif avatars. Personally I prefer to view a animated or gif avatar rather than a persons real picture. Most important reason is, suppose someone who has a grudge against you finds your picture. Then he can just photoshop your face on any naked body or insulting cartoon. This can be a real problem if a girls picture gets added to a adult artists body and gets spread on the internet. Besides we are not here to apply for a credit card or applying for a job that one has to have a real photo of oneself. I have listed various reasons why people prefer to not post their real photo online. I hope you understand.

yes advokatu you are correct because mylot and mylotters are genuine so all can put their real images i put my image after i saw thius discussion thank you verymuch

I am NOT pretty - I'm old and fat also, I don't WANT people to recognize me If I did, I'd post an OLD pix that you'd never know me from anyway

i've had my real photo on before. and its in my photos on my profile. most of the time i put my little chihuahua on my photo for profile. once in a while i put another that i've found interesting on it.

I don't mind what people put as their picture. I will admit though that people that do have real pictures are more memorable! I notice the picture more so than their nickname.

so people don't get scared... actually there's someone who uses the internet a lot that i want to avoid if possible. it's rampant paranoia probably but i feel more comfortable being anonymous in mylot.

I do put my own real photo. That way, people will have a face to associate you iwth and photos also reflect (to a certain extent) your personality.
