when do you stop being a newbie?

This thought occurred to me yesterday, I was out working on my yard and of course I was thinking of things that I could start a million discussions on --going through my mind --yep I am always thinking of what to talk about here. I have been with mylot for 8 months, I have over 1600 posts and almost 200 friends here... but I still consider myself a newbie here. I do consider myself a newbie still at all my sites. That made me think...when do I stop being a newbie (even to just myself) Do I have to be at a site for over a year before I feel I am no longer a newbie... do I have to make a certain amount of money before I feel more established as a part time worker online (for myself of course) or will it just hit me one day when I will feel less as a newbie and more part of the game?? How about you, do you still feel like a newbie?

This is one of the few sites where people are actually extremly nice to the newbies. Most of us take them under our wing and give them tips and tricks. Happy first post:)

Interesting question When I registered and had zero post I didn't feel like a newbie. It's just another forum I guess.

It's been a long time since I've stopped being a newbie on this site, considering I've joined myLot in November 2006. I think one member stops being a newbie on myLot when one stops having questions about the site (where to find a certain option or certain information on the site) and when one finds himself knowing how to respond questions about the site. It was a bit odd when myLot totally changed its appearance, and even the veterans had to learn it all over again .

I think that makes total sense!! I mean when I feel confident enough to say that I know pretty much everything there is to know, then I will no longer have that newbie feel!! I guess because I am still searching and learning everything I can and still researching sites to help boost my earnings I am still in the newbie frame of mind! thanks for the response and happy mylotting!!

8 months? 1613 posts? You are not a newbie. I think when you have reached your 100th post and have been on here for two months or longer you are no longer a newbie. It's all about time and participation. I would not consider you a newbie. Though if you have been here for say 6 months and only had 3 posts you may be considered a newbie, depending on the time span. If you only used it once and your account is old, you are not really considered a user.

I know, that is why I posted this... I mean I should feel like an old pro by now...but I guess because I am still learning new things everyday here and at my other sites --or things have changed and I have to learn the new things just as everyone else...you still get that newbie feeling!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

I think you might move from the newbie category when you go from asking and trying to figure things out and begin to help people learn to work the site. When you can share tips and techniques to help others get to over 1600 posts and 200 friends then I think you promote yourself from newbie to whatever level is next

true, I have helped give out tips but then I have always stated that I am pretty much still a newbie too... its just funny that after 8 months I really still think of myself that way...I guess it would be because I am still trying to learn everything that I can!!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting!!

I'm definitely still a newbie here. Of course, I've only been here for three weeks now. But I can tell you that I definitely love it here. At which point I consider myself to no longer be a newbie at a site is when I basically understand how the site operates. When I somewhat am known around a site, that kind of thing. Most of the sites that I play on are much smaller than mylot is, so it didn't take very long for me to no longer consider myself to be a newbie, maybe a month or two. With mylot being so big, I think it will probably take at least a year before I no longer consider myself to be a newbie here.

I remember me at the same number you are now at. It was in february 2009 that is this year only. I used to think that I was a newbie that time and wanted to be amongst good reputed mylottian and luckily I had time to do that also. I could use mylot for 5 hours a day. I utilized it at its best and at the end of May, I was on 3500+ and earned a lot of respect from other users(thank you guys). Now, I don't think I am a newbie but again, I don't have much time to do mylotting. I can only do it for 30 minutes(max) a day.

For me I think I will call myself as a newbie until I understand most of the tricks and ways to work on a particular cite. Along with these I would include having decent number of friends (around 60-70), decent number of posts (around 400-500) and atleast one payout. But even if all the criterias concerning the friends, posts and payouts is matched and I still don't have the complete knowledge about the website I would consider myself as a newbie.

Hello bookreadermom08, I think that no one stops being a newbie. You can never be sure as to how much you have done compared with others. There can always be someone who is more experienced. I myself always feel as a newbie. Since I have yet much to learn from the world. Cheers! Thok
