Is there any need of pop-up advertising & publishing?

is there any need of such advertising & publishing while all know that visitors hate this;
there are many good & best ad formats present on net such as text ads, banner ads, video & animation ads, inline ads etc. etc.
what are your opinions about such advertising.
whether it's usage should be decrease or not.
i hate pop-up's.
