One of my cats every since its been a kitten has an odd habit with his water bowl. He will look into the bowl and can't figure it out because he can't see the water because its so clear so alot of times he will tip the bowl over on the floor.

We have an old deff cat. And he loves Elk meat... Any time he smells it he comes running. Oh and we have a barn cat that bits if you quit petting him. Our gray cat will sit in the middle of the house and meow.... And our youngest cat has a habit of sitting like a person does and leaning up against the freezer

I had a cat once that would come home to us calling out "Bixby Bed time". He also HAD to wear a bell. He woul be spastic with out it. If you took his collar off he would carry it in his mouth. Another cat we have HAS to be picked up everytime my husband comes home. My husband carries him around petting him for no less than thirty minutes. This cat also sits on the bathroom sink and reaches for any unsuspecting person walking in. If my husband goes to the bathroom to pee he also stands on the back of the toilet with his back feet and puts his front paws on my husbands chest and hollers in his face until my hubby is done. Another cat doesn't like to be picked up, hates her belly touched, only eats hard food or the gravy of wet food. She also likes flip flops, she will chew them. But only the ones made of foam. She won't stay outside without us humans out there. Nor inside if we aren't in there. She loves fingers. if ou are laying in bed she will seek out your fingers to rub on them. And my other cat loves Barbie. He will grab one of our daughters Barbies every time he is going to lay down to sleep and snuggle with it. We finally had to give him his own Barbie.

Also to add the first cat i mentioned loved to drink from cups. Whether it was water, sweet tea or even (his favorite) Pepsi. But it had to be in the cup WITH ice. He would use his paw to pop the ice down lap up what he could get then when the ice would float back up he would do it again.

we should use a larger bowl for all our cats as some of them drink lots of water.

Our one cat got so jealous after our oldest was born, that every time I walked by him he would swat me with his claws out. He wasn't the baby anymore! When I was a kid, we had a cat that loved to sleep around my neck at nite. That's how we determined that I am allergic to them. I love them just can't live with them.

Two of Khuay's traits (he's the cat in my avatar) that have me laughing like crazy are: He will flop down in someone's lap and go to sleep, he relaxes so thoroughly that he will slide down your legs and end up with his head resting on your feet and his hind legs on your knees. He will stay asleep in that position until you move him. The second one is again with Khuay's sleeping. I have a water bed and the cats love to sleep on it. Khuay will fall asleep and roll over on his back...then he will roll over again and fall out of bed onto Abby. Abby's a Pit/Lab mix that used to hate cats. He will land on her (still asleep) and sleep there until she can't stand laying in one spot any longer and she gently slides him off onto her blankets. Khuay is also a jumpy cat, he can be walking by your feet and if you move your feet he will jump straight up and you can see definite air between his feet and the floor. He'll get up on the bed by my feet, and I may involuntarily twitch a toe while he's looking at my feet and he will still jump! He is such a riot!!!!

I have to add another one of my cat's strange sleeping habit. Dinglebeary (my Maine C00n cat) is sleeping in the hamper in the bathroom again. It startles the daylights out of me when I open the lid and there are a pair of yellow green eyes staring up at me! I also had a black cat that when we brought him home promptly adopted a dish pan to sleep in. We were struggling to find a name for him, but when we found him sleeping in the dish pan his name was supplied, he became "Dish Pan Sam". He always slept in the dish pan.

It's funny. My cat usually isnt too crazy, but one thing that he has been doing lately in sleeping in a box. He has spent most of the last two days in there. He just has a major love for that box, prior to that he was picking out different rugs to sleep on. Each day it would be a new rug.

It never fails, but as soon as I put a cup of coffee on the arm of the couch, my cat will try to jump up right next to it, and will put a paw into it, if i let him. I have to constantly guard my coffee against him getting into it. Drives me nuts when he does that. Drives me absolutely nuts!

We have a mouse problem and are having to trap them to get rid of them. This morning I looked at the trap, no mouse but a little cheese left. I went away to have my morning coffee and heard the trap go off, then I heard the cat jump off the counter, as he went by me I noticed that he had trap attached, remember I hadn't seen a mouse. So I woke Hubby, it was 4:00AM and told him the cat had gotten into the trap, my hands will not release the trap. He got to the cat and there was the mouse in the cat's mouth still attached to the trap. He talked the cat out of the mouse and disposed of the mouse. I guess you could call our cat the second line of defense in the mouse invasion.

There was a cat in my village home with a strange habit. When we were dining at the dining table the cat would come and tab on our legs or shirt. It like it was saying "hey give me some food". When I would offer it food with my hands, it would scratch my hand with its nails. This made me drop the food. The cat would eat the food after the food has dropped from my hand. I had not seen any other cat do so.

Hi, It is not that he can't see his water that he knocks over the water bowl. that is what everyone thinks. Cats are very picky about water. They love fresh water just like you do. Often you will find you cat in the sink drinking water after you have just done something in the sink I bet? Right! That is because it is fresh and clean. You need to get one of those bowls where you can fill a two liter bottle of water and flip it over into the bowl. Then the cat can have clean fresh water all the time. That is what I had to do for my cat because she would walk over to the bowl and scratch the top of the water like she was trying to get to clean water. I mean think about it. Would you want to drink water that was sitting there for six or 8 hours uncovered and warm?

My youngest cat will meow by the bathroom sink, until you turn on the faucet. No matter if she has fresh water in her bowl or not, she prefers running water. My other cat (the one on my avatar pic) use to climb up the shower curtain and perch on the curtain rod and watch you shower. Should have named him Tom (as in 'Peeping Tom).

Hi there, realan... Just wanted to tell you I got such a good chuckle from your cute comment about how you should have named your other cat Tom. ...hehehe... He's pretty, but he also has a very sneaky look about him, sweet, but nonetheless major sneaky. ..."wanting to insert a *grin* here"... As I would guess he would have had to have been to climb up the shower curtain and perch on the rod while you showered. Hopefully he didn't use up any of his little nine lives let alone all of them, doing so! Take care, firefox333

Hi Firefox, He is quite sneaky! You can't make a sandwich and turn your back on it for a few seconds. All you will see is a blur and your ham and cheese will be missing. He also loves bread. If you leave a loaf of bread out, he will make a hole in the bag and munch. He did land in the tub a few times when he was perched on the shower rod. Luckily I wasn't in the tub on those occasions...ouch! Now he can't do this anymore. We have moved and in the new house there is not enough room between the rod and the ceiling for him. He satisfies himself, along with our younger kitty, by sitting on the edge of the bathtub. He does look a bit sneaky in this pic. I think he was just annoyed because my daughter had just chased him around and placed a pink tiara on his head. Poor boy!

Many cats don't like the surface tension of standing water and will paw at it before drinking. I had one cat that would pull his bowl out into the middle of the floor while pawing at the water. The two cats I have now prefer to drink from a tall plastic tumbler rather then a bowl. I use the same type of cup for my own water and have to guard it to keep the cats out. They will share the big water bowl on the floor for the dogs but only if it has fresh water and the dogs haven't slobbered in it.

One of our cats loves to spill water all over the floor and play with it. Yours may be similar. I do have another cat who sometimes reaches out to touch the surface of the water with her paw so she can tell where to lick.
