What places would you like to go back to?

I have been to more than fifty countries, and there are some places I would love to revisit. The islamds of Crete and Ibiza are two that are close to the top of the list. As for cities, I'd like to visit London and Prague again. Since it's more than forty years since I was in any of these places, I feel they would have changed dramatically, and probably have lost the charm that attracted me in the first place. How about you, myLotters. Do you have any special places you'd like to revisit? I'd like to know.

I would love to visit London and Venice again and along the way I would like to stop in Thailand and live on the beach as I did all the way back to 1989! We did the backpacking thing all those years ago. We left Perth, travelled to Singapore, through Malaysia and stopped in Thailand for three weeks before heading to Jordan and the U.K. I loved Thailand especially Koh Phi Phi, Bangkok not so much! We stopped in Koh Samui on the way back, loved it there too but too touristy whereas Phi Phi was not so much back then. London is magical. If you had never been there and someone dropped you off in the middle of the city without telling you your location, you would just know where you were. Venice is another place like that. They have their own magic and atmosphere.

Hi paula, Thailand is great, and in two years I'll be back. Don't tell the government though, or they'll cancel my pension, for not being an Australian resident! Loved London and Venice too, but keep away from Bangkok, unless I really have to go there.

Like you my friend I have been to more than fifty different countries. I usually like to see new places on my travels because there are so many places worth going to. I would love to go back to a few lovely destinations that I have discovered. I would adore a trip back to Samoa. I would spend longer there and see all the places I liked when I was there in 2002 plus some of the places I missed. I would love to go back to do the Abel Tasman Walk in New Zealand again. Yes, because you visited London and Prague so long ago they have indeed changed a lot. I imagine that Crete and Ibiza are more touristy these days. I went to Prague in 1996 and it wasn't the same delight as Budapest in 1990. Time changes places and each destination has its life cycle. Some places would be in the regeneration stage or in decline now. None of the places would be in their first stages of development anymore. Happy traveling.

Thanks for your response max, and even we are addicted tourists, I don't believe people like us enjoy places with a lot of five star hotels and restaurants, but would rather visit people in their own culture doing the things they have done for generations.

I was the same as you when I was young dio. I got extra work, saved my money, and eventually went on my world trip. You can too, if you really put your mind to it. Thanks for responding.

Hi mipen, there are many new places which I have not yet visited where I would really like to go, especially Poland. But you ask about places to revisit, so I would choose Turkey as it is a very welcoming country and there are places there which I haven't been to yet, including Istanbul. I would like to go back to the Dalyan area which was very quiet with beautiful landscapes and rivers but fear that it would have grown and changed beyond recognition.

Hi thea, you mention what might happen if we revisit places we fell in love with, and that's something that worries me. What tourism has done to some of the beautiful areas around the world. I 'msorry now that I didn't get to Turkey, but it didn't seem to have the same attraction in the sixties that it has now. Thanks for your contribution.

Sydney is a very busy and impersonal city. I have been there many times, including a couple of business visits, but it's not one of my favorite places. Thanks for your response.

I've visited 2 countries, Singapore and Malaysia. If I was money, I will be visiting another country, does not return to the country I've visited before. I want to have new experiences.

Well hsofyan, that makes a lot of sense, and if you put your mind to it, I'm sure you will travel to many countries.

I've not traveled nearly as much as you have, but there are places that I'd like to visit again. Stateside, I would love to visit the Grand Canyon again and also Miami. Overseas, I really want to go back to Rome and Venice again. As far as Paris, on the one hand I'd really like to go back but on the other hand I really wasn't impressed with it.

I understand whet you're saying about Paris. Once you've seen The Louvre, The Eiffel Tower, and the other tourist attractions there, there is little. I found the people unfriendly and cool toward tourists. I would love to see the Grand Canyon, but have little hope in this life. Thanks for your input.
