What do you think about this...

Every year, a local church gives away school supplies, clothes, performs school physicals (none of the local offices here will bill insurance or medicaid for them, its cash only), and hair cuts. Unfortunately there's no income guidelines, it's open to everyone. I'm on the very low income bracket, so I of course went. I was in a state of disbelief however, when I got there. The line, not even standing single file, was backed up for THREE BLOCKS!! However, what shocked me most was when I looked around me - There were only 3 cars in the area that were more than 3 or 4 years old. I saw people in the line who don't even have children, and I saw people in the line who make in excess of $60,000 a year. What do you think about when things like that happen?

You know what's funny is I notice you mention the word free and you have roaches coming out of the wood work. I know this past spring when the ice storm hit our area there were places giving out food, heaters, etc. for people hwo lost electricity and lost food due to the month long power outages...well I know people personally who barely lost anything that went and collected just to get it free. But it's a shame that this happens, because the people who are running the donations cannot simply check everyones income levels or the facts for evey situation.

The church is too welcoming if you'd ask me. They should provide these services and free stuff to those who are really in need. I mean, that's the purpose of doing these things, right? If all members were rich or middle class, then why should the church bother doing these? The church should make sure that they allocate their funds wisely and not just spend them on people who don't really need them.

Nobody in this world is happy with what he's got. They want more, even more.. This really sucks.. Why don't these people understand that there are people in this world who want these money very dearly, who have to also run their families, who have to complete their own wimps and fancies. Also, this church should have laid proper guidelines for this donation..

Hello zoey7879, I guess noone really feels as if he/she has enough. Everyone wants more and more. So much that people forget to think about others who have less then they do. Thok

It's great that the church is doing this for people who need it. Unfortunately others will take advantage of it. Does the church have a suggestion box? A lot of churches in my area participate in the Angel Food Ministries program. Every month when I go to pick up my food I see people driving up in their Lexus SUV's and BMW's. This program also has no income guidelines. I guess everyone is trying to save a buck or two.
