A few years ago, i was using Norton, but i stopped recently as i noticed that it occupies a lot of memory. I changed to AVG and notice it doesn't slow down my PC. I like it very much. How about you guys? Which anti-virus software do you use?

Hello winterliang. I think you have raised a good question and very needy too in todays time. I think all antivirus softwares are equal (on basis of virus removal), except the few, just the user should know how to use them effectively. I do have vista 32 bit installed on my system and its inbuilt anti-malware is the best of all malwares available in market. So, with Vista installed one needs only a good antivirus software like AVAST 4.8 professional and no need to install a full internet security software. They are very heavy too means they occupy much RAM. Further, I prefer some independent virus removal tools also. If u have XP then install any good malware and spyware software and then a good antivirus software like AVAST will then work. Among all the complete internet security systems, like Bit-defender, AVG, McAfee, Norton, Quick Heal, Avira, etc. I think if you can compromise with less speed quick heal is the best, otherwise Bit-defender and McAfee should be the choices. Happy virus free computers. Happy MyLotting.

Personally, I like both Avira and AVG. Norton is definitely a resource hog and according to some studies not necessarily any better than the free antiviruses! I believe Avira takes more memory than AVG, but I think it is also a little better at what it does.

Avira for all my life. It's free fast and finds almost all viruses. And sometimes, a scan with Prevx :D

I use avira (German antivirus, it doesn't occupy much memory and quick startup), Qihoo 360 security(anti-spyware, malware, trojan and ARP attack, full function), Skynet firewall(chinese small firewall)

i am using NOD32 for more than 2 to 3 years now and i have never faced any probelm with it and so i am very happy with its performance. i mean it is very light on the system and also the scanning is very powerful. so i think it is the best one for me.

I read some articles saying that NOD32 already replace AVG's position. Don't know is it really true. Since i don't have any problems with AVG, i think i will just stick to it lol

Sunbelt Vipre, it isnt free but it is way better than the well known antivirus programs. It doesnt nibble so much resources, scans lightning fast and has a cool user interface. If you use your brains you can even get it for free.

Recently,I am using NOD32 in my laptop. One of my friend once recommended me to use it.It is small and it doesn't take up too much memory. So it will not slow down my PC.Besides, the software is inexpensive which is very suitable for me as I am a student.I also use Qihoo 360 security as a complement.

Me too was using Norton initially and I'm completely agree with winterliag that it really eats up the speed of your pc. So I then switched to McAfee as it is very light for any Pc and it works like as it is not present here. I really like the McAfee.

I don't know the performance of Norton for the past 5 years. I remembered i installed it in year 2002 and changed to other anti-virus software after a few months.

i've tested a lot of antivirus, but no one detect all viruses. I think Nod32 works fine, but i had a problem with ise32.exe months ago and kaspersky was the only one who detected. now i'm working with forefront client securoty and mcafee, but i still believe in nod32 like better antivirus. Sometime the virus is so new and the only way get it out is make a batch.

Hi, I personally use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, since for me it performs better than most other anti virus programs. It detects and removes more than the other programs do. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

i've never liked Norton because it's a resource hog but when i tried their 2009 version, i was quite amazed with it's performance. AVG and Avast won't get my vote 'coz it's like you're exposing your computer to viruses. Avira is good but i've noticed that their sercurity suite slowed down my internet connection. Bitdefender is good but it has become a resource hog. NOD32 and Kaspersky are both ok. i'm currently testing F-Secure and so far so good.
