Hi Mylotters,
I was just wondering if you are also experiencing same problems that I am having now.
I have just been using AVG8 for a month, and I think its scanning all files unnecessarily and causing my pc to perform poorly:(
I tried searching/googling for different forums and I see many people complaining too, but I want to hear the opinions of mylotters.
Is AVG8 Anti virus too slow on your computer too? Do I have to downgrade to v7?I have a monster/really fast pc thatI just bought last week
it's newly formatted too so I'm pretty sure its avg8 thats slowing my pc.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and comments

i would go with nod32 free antivirus it dont take over your over like avg does and it can detect alot more. I would also download a antispy where proggram two like spyboy s&d also a popup block add-on in firefox browser would also be good. with these you should be safe.

Thanks, I would try and experiment with nod32 free antivirus but I have used spybot search & destroy before and I think I dont like it as it is a bit annoying as it popups messages a lot back when I used it before, but things might have change since then.

in reality as virus proection i found good with avg products..till i use..in fact i never had an infection when my avg updated will run on my pc as well!!
As regards speed and yoru computer it depends i guess from your configuration ..so sometimes if you will start a deep scan with avg the computer performance can be slow the normal...sometimes i experienced me too..but in general not so slow and so you must quit your work..as regards the downgrade in avg 7 in reality from this point of view i never noticed a really change between the 2 versions so i don't knwo how the downgrade will be useful for you on thsi purpose s and the bad fact is also that for avg 7 you will have really less update of your virus datbase than in the new version and so in soem cases your computer can be exposed to some risks!!

I have configured avg7 before to be less annoying and have disabled all the auto-update, (but I update it manually regularly, daily/twice a day at a specific time), so its not scanning or upgrading as much and interrupting my work.
its just that after installing avg8, its really an annoying experience overall, too many pop-ups, high cpu usage and stuff. and I think it shouldnt be doing it frequently.
But anyway, am trying out the Kaspersky now for at least a month and I'll see if I would go back to avg7 or just use this Kaspersky if I'm happy with it.
Thanks again and happy Mylotting! :)

I dont think I have virus, its just that when I open a folder with many files on it, avg was scanning all files no matter how small or just text files it still does.
Thanks anyway, and I will try using that avast antivirus after I try this Kaspersky 8 or bit defender.

u haven't told your system config...
so far AVG 8 works fine with 512mb RAM and above..better use Kaspersky 8 or bit defender.these are very good and smart that detects every virus in your system..
