I personally used to use Guard/Bull Dog, but found that it didn't work as well as Norton. Plus, listening to the DOG bark every time that there was a virus trying to attack my computer was VERY annoying. I have always had very good luck with Nortons and it has always caught potentially dangerous viruses and updated itself automatically. I'm really not sure what all the problems were that you were having but I and several others that I know have always sworn by Nortons.

im using norton and i didnt have any problem using it. it can detect spyware, virus and other computer threats. i guess most of the anti virus offer the same thing. for as long us they can protect your computer then it doesnt matter what kind of anti virus you have.

I have been using Norton 360 for the past six months and I'm very happy with it. I don't use the backup facility on Norton 360 I carry out my own backups instead. It's a shame that you are experiencing these problems yourself, I don't understand why though. When my subscription ends for the year I may or may not renew it. If I don't renew it then I will turn the free version of AVG which is a good anti-virus product. Anyhow, I scan my system once a week using the Norton 360 and it seems to do the job and I like the fact that it checks the registry and cleans it up. Andrew

My personal feeling about norton antivirus is not so good. I have not used it very long but during the period i used it it made computer frozen stuff, hanged up each and every time i start an application. That is very irritating. I use AVG 8.5 and it works good.

I work with ATT as internet technical support rep, and we tied up with norton before as our security software but end up giving us a lot of hard time, messing up the members pc. Right now, we switched to Mcafee..whish also have this so called MVT( mcafee virtual technician) which is way better than norton. We can ran the MVT and it will help you fix registry and some other error, thats why the software works better because it fixes other pc software issue.
At home, im using Symantec Antivirus and it worked well for me for the last 5 years.

Norton antivirus is not the best one. Yes it was best long time back. Now Norton has many issues and the biggest issue is that after its installation of CPU, the speed and performance of the system degrades and it behaves unevenly. The system halts sometimes and also sometimes it totally freezes and we have to manually restart the system. Now a days many antivirus are available in market and many of them are better than norton as they take much low space then norton and also detects virus and spams more convineintly. In my believe, I think Kaspersky is also doing a great job and ENOD 32 is also the best one.

Nope, not at all.
Norton is not the best, moreover, it is nowhere near the bests. Its virus database as not as rich as others. Also, its memory usage is bit too high as compared to most of the good antivirus systems, that causes speed problems on slow systems.
Yeah, Kaspersky is a good antivirus.
I tried nearly 6-7 different antivirus products from reputed companies. I loved the professional QuickHeal Total security the most. It has got advanced firewall, database with fast and tight control on computer resources. Also, BitDefender Total Security is also very good. Its .NET platform and its advanced firewall make it really secure. So, these security systems are really good for an OS lacking its own advanced firewall like Windows XP.
But, i use Avast professional edition as it is lightweight and has good updated databases. The difference is that it lacks its own firewall, but on a stable system like vista that has its own advanced firewall, this lightweight software works really well.
