This is not at all unusual to find in cats though yours seems young. No matter how good the care is you give your cats, they are hunters and should be given a meat diet, I know that house cats have been domesticated for thousands of years but their genetic code is still set up for them to be carnivores. So the diet we feed them is not always the best. I am so sorry you are having to deal with a sick pet, I know it's a terrible situation to be in. Blessings

I am so sorry to hear about your cat. It sounds like you have a good vet who is caring for him and keeping him comfortable. Sadly, kidney failure is still one of the leading causes of feline deathes. It is my hope that someday they will develop new technology which will be able to detect potential issues sooner rather than finding out too late. Best wishes for you and your cat.
