Vehicle Purchases

Did you buy your car by being financed or did you pay a flat amount outright for your vehicle? If you financed you car was it worth it? If you paid for your car in full, was that worth it? I financed a 13,000 dollar car back in 2004 and I recently paid it off, and although I don't know if I could afford to do it again for quite some time, it was worth it and my car is still in fairly good shape. It was a good investment for me!

Both cars I have ever bought were bought with cash, used and I purchased them under their market value through a friend or family member. My first car a 95 toyota corolla I bought for 2000 dollars, it had 95k miles on it. that was in 2002. I had it until December 2008, it never gave me any trouble my husband drove it in and out of town daily for years, it got great gas milage and in december the planetary gear in the transmission went out, it had 450k miles on it. My newest car I bought from my mom for again 2000 dollars. I bought it in January 2009 it is a 2004 Honda Civic. Had 90k miles on it. We will see how that one does lol.

That is amazing that you squeezed 450,000 miles out of your Toyota! But then again, that doesn't really surprise me, as I have heard Toyotas last a lifetime if taken care of. I prefer American made cars though (I can thank my dad for that) as he never bought anything foreign. I own a Dodge, and I love it. If I were to buy another brand it would have to be a Chevy. I dislike Ford though LOL.

Ya know I was raised in the American car belief too. Ford was ALL my Daddy would buy. When it comes to a truck I would buy a ford Pick up but when it comes to fuel economy and life of the car I'll stick to what my dad called "rice burners" or "roller skates" He picked on my for buying my Toyota because he said I'd need 2. One for each foot to get anywhere. But they really do last. It would still be running but the planetary gear blew out because I let my mothers new husbands SON borrow it and he thought he could treat it like a race car. He was Throwing it in drive from reverse with out stopping it completely. slamming it in park while it was still rolling and according to my father in law who has worked on transmissions all his life tore up that gear. We also have a 94 Blazer that my husbands aunt GAVE him in 07 it has 160k on it and runs like a dream. Most of its problems are in the electric windows and I think my husband just told me the A/C needs to be charged. But whoopty doo ya know?

Wow-lucky you, your parents bought you a car? When I was a teenager, my dad never bought me a car, but I was allowed to drive his car to and from work and to go out with my friends. I had pretty strict limitations though-but being a teenager I bent the rules anyway. It got me in some trouble though, don't get me wrong!

We always pay cash for our vehicles, I hate paying more for it than what the cost is. All that interest i hate paying.
