Does it bother you when they change actors/actresses for a sequal?

A friend of mine recently asked me this question and I realized that it really was an interesting question. For me, I get really annoyed if the person from the first movie isn't the same in the sequel. I get a certain feel for the character that involves the look and mannerisms of the original actor. The second actor would have to be REALLY talented to be able to get the exact mannerisms from the first actor, especially since part of those would have been from the actor's personality. Then again, sometimes it can be done and the person in the second movie is better than the first. What do you think? Does it bother you if they have a different actor/actress from the originals in sequels?

well, i wasnt attracted to any of the movies you mentioned anyway. if i wasnt interested in seeing the original, i sure as hell wouldnt be interested in the sequels. so, again, it doesnt matter to me, because all the originals that i did like, i hated the sequel. Understand!

Well, I think there happens to be some really good sequels, but that's just my opinion, I guess. :) And there are plenty mentioned above. The Mummy movies, Harry Potter, Batman, etc.

Indeed it is a pretty interesting question regarding movies. Yes, it does feel a bit different because audience gets attached to some character playing as a actor and when it changes in the sequel it gets little annoying to get connected with the character.

That's exactly how I feel. It's like when one of the characters you like get killed or something. It feels like a completely new character when someone else plays it, or it does to me at the very least.

Absolutely!! I really liked the Mummy part1 and part2 movies and part of that was because I liked the role of Rachel Weisz. But in the third part I was more than disappointed by her absence. We get used to the movie cast and when the change occurs in the sequels it is really frustrating.

when a actor changes in a sequal,i will feel uncomfortable of course.coz this kind of change means that of the whole movie.the first impression will lead me to the imagination that this guy doesn't belong to this film and i have to spend time to put the character and the new actor together.i dislike this feeling.

No..it doesn't bother me when the actors change in the sequels or in any TV serials...becoz i jst enjoy the story but not the characters. When i watch a music video then i don't see the actors who perform or the singer who sings or the director, music composer, i only enjoy the music by closing the eyes.

Yes it does bother me at times. You get used to an actor/actress and boom here is a replacement

My thoughts exactly. Especially when it happens to be an actor that you really like and you hear there's another coming out and you're like yay they'll be in it...and then they're not. It's kind of disappointing.
