I'm an amateur photographer but i try to be expert in photography. I ask to friends that have same hobby with more experience in photograph. I dont know much about camera, setting it or find a good angel of an object. I just use the camera and take a picture. I like to take a picture about people and their activities.

any camera will do. it is not the camera that will make your shot look good. it is your vision. give an old camera, even an instamatic, and he will shoot a masterpiece. so before shooting, immerse yourself with these great photographs until you absorb those pictures into your brain/thought systems. your intentions will always show with your photograph. refine yourself by absorbing the mindset and intentions of the great photographers, and you will inadvertently produce something akin to their works. as picasso said... copy their styles first, and when you know them, then and only then can you make something original.

to start off, you can learn things about camera settings and photography in the internet. there are a lot of websites which give advice about photography. you can also subscribe to their newsletters (sent by email) for free. there are also some good books about photography as well as magazines. photography is a very good activity because it is a way of preserving memories/experiences and it is also a way of making other people see things, even mundane things, in a different/unusual way. in terms of picture taking, looking for something to take a picture of is trying too hard. sometimes the best pictures are stolen shots or unplanned photos; things that people see every day and it's up to you, as the photographer to make it interesting. so always bring your camera with you it may help you become better and also don't stop tinkering with your camera. always experiment with it. :)

You give great advice LiaXaZu, a good photographer can always take something old and make it look good as new..... it's always about Illusions....... as you stated ordinary every day items can become something extraordinary, it's all about the placement and setting. Not to mention having a good eye for details never hurt, take care and have a great evening, Happy mylot!

Hi, I have same problem as well. I have recently bought a very good camera but when it comes to settings I just try doing things but not sure if that is correct. Now I need to fix them again as the photos I took lastly didn't come very good. I think if you do some research on the internet or check the camera's manufacturer website there may be various tips to help you with some settings.
Have a nice day!

I recently purchased a digital SLR camera myself and am just now getting the hang of it. I suppose I'm lucky in that I learned to shoot on older 35mm cameras where you had to manually set up almost every picture according to lighting and everything.
My one big tip to you would to be read the manual that came with your camera, look up anything you don't understand on the Internet, then read the manual again. It really does help to know the ins-and-outs of the machine. Aside from that, shoot lots and lots of pictures. You'll begin to get a feel for what looks good and just naturally lean towards that style.
