Im a New Zealander and I would say (being non biast and objective) that New Zealand is probably a bit more beautiful. Although there are of course beautiful landscapes in every country on Earth. The reason I chose New Zealand is that within a few hours one can see a variety of landscapes from beautiful white sandy beaches to stunning lakes, spectacular white mountain ranges, icy glaciers, lush forests and even a small desert like area named the desert road.
As for the best romantic location.. I would say Switzerland. Home to three official languages each very romantic.. French, Italian and German (well perhaps German isn't romantic) The Swiss also make delicious chocolate which make romantic gifts along with high end European couture. The Europeans are also themselves very romantic.. something which cannot be said for kiwis here in New Zealand.

That's a pretty extreme comparison.. and it really depends on what you want to do and in which season.. so many variables..I've been lucky enough to visit both so i'll try to give my opinion on the two places. If it's winter i'd most definitely suggest switzerland. They have some of the best skiing in the world and it is beautiful seeing the landscape with tall mountains covered in snow..(try verbier) I also think the city of zurich is beautiful..perfect for a date to go together and explore... also keep in mind that switzerland is right between many other major european countries so if switzerland gets boring you could always jump on a train to germany.. austria.. france and even italy.. so your choices are a lot more open. However.. if it's summer i would go to new zealand.. and for those people who love exciting adrenaline-filled events i wouldn't even think twice. Bungy jumping.. skydiving.. "zorb"ing ..( where you're put in this HUGE ball as you're strapped to a side and they roll it down a hill ).. there's tons to do for those who love the adrenaline rush. If not.. the beaches are beautiful in New Zealand and if it's the correct season surfing would be a popular sport.. there's also a lot more new zealand has to offer.. such as white water rafting.. amazing dining ( lamb lamb lamb! there's more sheep than people there ) and just in general lots more to do.. whether you're on the north or south island you won't be bored.. so it's up to you really! i'd say visit both if you have the chance!!

I have never been to New Zealand so I can not compare both the places. But I have been to Switzerland so I thought I could reply to this discussion. Switzerland is a beautiful place. Awesome weather, beautiful lakes and mountains it feels like a paradise. But I have heard that New Zealand is also a very beautiful place. In that case New Zealand has an edge over Switzerland. New Zealand has many world class beaches but that is one thing you will never find in Switzerland.
