Well, it's happened, I've succumbed to the dreaded Swine Flu. I'll spare you and won't go into a description of my symptoms as it's not very pretty. What I will tell you is that I feel fed up, down in the dumps and groggy. So any tips to cheer myself up or how to pass the time while I'm quarantined. I'm finding that I'm sleeping in late and then again early evening, so when I get up my boyfriend is on his way to bed and I've missed all the good stuff on TV.
Maybe someone knows some home made memories to give me an energy boost.
Many thanks

Yuck, that sucks that you have swine flu, though think of it this way, you will not get it later when the world suffers hard from it in the winter, by then it will probably be worse and you will have strong immunity against it. I would rather get it now than later really. Just enjoy relaxing and doing nothing while it lasts, hey, at least you have the internet. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for your kind words.
Your right it should mean that I won't suffer if it get worse in the winter. But I'm actually in one of the at risk catergories as I have asthma and epilepsy. It's a bit annoying that the vaccine isn't being made available until Autumn in the UK as if it was available now I wouldn't have it.
As you say at least I have the internet. But the relaxing is a bit annoying as I'm actually into the third week of my five weeks holidays as i work in education so I'm not gaining anything like a week of work. I'd been looking forward to a day out somewhere and there's lots of decoration and stuff to do in the house which I'm just to tired and lathargic to do. I suppose at least it gets me out of that!

Bless your heart. I have a bit of a fear of getting that swine flu my self. I am glad that you are staying quarantined and not getting out in public and spreading it. Of course, the contagious stage may have already been over by the time they figured out for sure that you had it. That is what has happened here in the states.
To cheer you up, I would suggest you enjoy some 30 minute sitcoms. That way you don't have to indulge your mind to much, and concentrate too hard on a whole two hour flick. But you can get a good laugh.
As far as gaining more energy, well, maybe it's too soon. I think I would be looking for something to make me sleep more, and something that would allow me to sleep hard enough that I could get underneath of a good down comforter and sweat it out. Sweating it out of my system, has always been the best way for me to get rid of influenza.
Hope you feel better. And by the way, WELCOME to myLot (better late than never).

I like to watch some of the oldies, like the original Bob Newhart, I think it was called Hart to Hart. I also like to watch All in the Family and The Jeffersons. I find just about any situation comedy humorous. One of the best gifts that anyone could get me would be a box set of just about any of the oldie but goodies!

Thanks for your kind words.
Comedy is always my medicine but I seem to have been watchiing a lot recently so I've had a bit of an over kill.
I love the sound of your idea about sleeping but for me even when I'm ill it's easier said then done. I suffer with insomnia and often struggle to sleep until the wee dark hours, or sometimes even when the sun is shining! I want take anything to make me sleep and I'm not even sure my doctor would prescribe me anything. I have epilepsy, which is tablet controlled, and I have to be careful that anything I take does not react with my medication. I have been told I cannot even, in any circumstances, use herbal remedies etc as they don't know what it would do. So most nights I have a winding down time before I go to bed. This is sitting in the dark watching comedies, hence the overkill.
For enjoyment tonight I'm watching Dracula 2000. Very different from a comedy?
What's your fave comedy to watch when you want to cheer yourself up? Mine is Frasier.

Hope you begin to feel better soon. Thankfully I don't know anyone personally that has suffered from this and it's not really common where I am. But seems they believe it will be this winter. Would be nice if you have a laptop and can just spend lots of time on Mylot making money.

Thanks for your well wishes.
Well I've decided to use this time wisely and make some money on MyLot and other sites that I'm with as I do have a trusty laptop. So hopefully some good will come of it.
I don't personally know anyone that has had Swine Flu so it's been a very new, and scary, experience. I was very concerned at first as I have asthma, but luckily it hasn't really affected it.
Will you get the vaccine if it is made available to you?

Well, it seems this discussion is a little old, but wanted to respond anyways. I think that one of the best cures to get rid of any type of illness, like flu or cold, is to drink lots of orange juice and eat chicken noodle. Of course, sometimes, depending on the sickness it might be a little difficult to keep this stuff down. In that case, you might just try taking multi vitamins or vitamin C.
I hope you are feeling much better by now. Early last week I was feeling down with a cold. I drank lots of orange juice, about 1/4 of a gallon a day and ate chicken noodle, plus I was taking 500 mg vitamin C. It is pretty much gone, and would probably be gone by now if I hadn't been spending the last 3 days working outside with the leaves and the flower beds. But the weather was so nice, I couldn't pass it up.
Hope all is well, and good luck to you in the future!

It took a bit longer then I expected to recover. Even after 4 weeks when I returned to work I was really tired by the afternoon, and never had any energy. I would go hope and either collapse on the sofa or go to bed for a bit. It took even longer to get my appetite back, everyone commented at work that I must still be ill as I was hardly eating anything. This also didn't help with the lack of energy.
I was lucky that I didn't become worse with it as I have asthma so in a way I was very lucky.

Thank you for your kind words.
They recommend that you are quarentined until you are fully recovered. The infectious stage is for five days, so I've stayed in for 7 days although I was feeling well before that. I think that I actually had it 2 days before I realised what it actually was.
I am now recovered all though my energy levels are at an all time low as I've hardly been eating and have just been sat on the sofa or laying in bed. So I'm still not doing much yet.
Luckly my boyfriend hasn't caught it so everything is well on that side.
The sound of coconut water doesn't sound very nice to me, I really don't like coconut. Although I do like the coconut jelly they serve at Chinese restarants.
I'm going to check out your comments on the review you mentioned, thanks.

The best way to be energized always is to keep our mind to think that 'Iam always brisk and do my work properly'. Always chant this through out the day and ultimately your sub-consicious mind will react to it and you will never be quarantined. The reason is that what we think will happen to us. So always think positive about yourself.

That is a bi of a pain but as many have already pointed out at least now you should't be able to catch it again! I have thankfully not had it but, my mother in law has so I am staying well away from her as I don't want to catch it!! lol
