I feel that crt monitor is quite irritating to the eyes unlike the LCD monitor. if i am right. i would want to throw this crt monitor of mine.wish that i have enough money to buy at least a small, decent and affordable if not cheap LCD monitor. Besides this thing occupies too much space. Do you feel that it is just worth throwing away your old crt monitor. i just go window shopping many times looking for beautiful LCD. one day i wish i could buy one of those monitor i saw on the malls. it may not make me earn better to have a better monitor but at least it will not hurt my eyes that much specially this CRT monitor i have does not have working button to change the settings of brightness. n

I am using CRT monitor at Office as well as also using the Laptops. Well LCD monitors are also available with some systems in our office. Well this is the age of LCD monitors but CRT monitors can also notm be just thrown out just because they are not in fashion now. We must not forget its use when no LCD monitors were there. As some offices have budget constraints and cannot but the new monitors, the CRT monitors are still working fine for them.

yeah i plan to keep them or just sell it for a cheap price so that i can have additional money to buy for other things. i think my crt monitor screen size is quite small. i like a bigger screen that is why i plan to buy a new one. it is really cool now seeing big LCD monitors with bright and colorful screen but not actually hard to the eyes. i was planning Samsung brand. do you think this is a good brand. i think DELL is common brand for US and Canada. but here in the philippines those are not popular and i don't like DELL actually. i think Samsung is better.

Yes, I am using an LCD monitor and have been using this for about a year now. It is quite convenient with less straining on the eyes. I think the price now has greatly reduced compared to when it first hit the market. Every new models that come out will see a great reduction in prices of older models. It is quite affordable. So do get one before you spoil your eyesight.

I rarely used my desktop monitor, except when I am using my printer and I have a lot of USB devices. The CPU of my computer have a lot of USB slots and I can attach more than USB devices unlike in my lapto who only have 4 USB slots. I used frequently my 2 laptop, one is used by my sister and were both using WIFI from wireless router I just bought recently. Laptop is slightly thin, need little space, weight less, flexible and I could bring it with me whatever places i like to go. I could also used my Internet connection from wireless USB modem and WIFI enable.

Yes i still use a CRT monitor i am waiting when i will earn sufficient money to purchase TFT monitor. Space is not a question for more as there is ample space in my room. The only thing that irritates me is the power consumption and its radiation effect and so planning to buy. Hope so i purchase it as soon as possible.

the thin monitor that you are using with your desktop is a TFT whereas the ones in the laptops are mostly LCD.... i don't really know how much difference there is between them...

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) is actually a variant of LCD. TFT LCDs are most common today in television sets, computer monitors, mobile phones, etc..

I now use LCD monitor at home. My CRT monitor I have given to my sister. CRT monitor is bulky and heavy, you're right, consuming much space on the desk. Don't throw your CRT monitor for now, you can still use it and adjust the brightness, contrast, light on your screen. It can't be so irritating to the eyes if you just adjust the display on your screen.

the button here on the monitor in adjusting the brightness and settings are not working any more. so it is just on the same brightness as it was. i can't do anything about it.

Too bad for you, perhaps you may want to use an anti-glare filter that is available in your area. Use a polarizing anti-glare filter that has passed the TUV quality mark, it provides the highest level of glare reduction and contrast improvement.

Hai, Yes.. I am using CRT monitor in my Desktop computer at Home. Also I use a laptop with LCD monitor and at office I have LCD monitor. So I like LCD monitor. But irritation to the eyes are also there with the LCD monitor. If you are looking for some half an hour then you feel some issues with eyes. since I have to sit all month like that, I felt that. But now I prefer LCD monitor because It occupies less space as you told. Regards, Reyas

No, I do not use a CRT monitor. I also find it irritating with the low level of brightness and glare fromthe glass screen. I feel that it is worth throwing away your old CRT monitor for a new LCD one. It is a good investment and increases your productivity.

i think that LCD monitor and laptop are the best device in the world because of its design, thin and beautiful, and using easily. CRT is like a TV . i don't like it :)

I use a laptop so that I don't have the CRT monitor. In the past when I used desktop, I had a LCD monitor for it. The CRT monitor is too big and it uses more electricity. So I don't think the CRT will be a good monitor any more. I love China

I still use one because I feel that they still do agreat job in post processing.I believe that they dispaly a value of sharpness that is closer to reality than LCDs .Also I found it easier to work with color profiles with old fashion CRTs.I still use a 10 year old COMPAQ. I would like to upgrade to a much sleeker and modern LCD, but the good ones will run you about $2000 and the affordable ones cannot match my CRT.

i was using COMPAQ also before. it became reddish in color of the monitor and it is really hurftul to the eyes and so i stopped using it.

hmm.. I have three computers at home, two laptops and one PC which I used in college with CRT monitor, now, we seldom touch the old PC, except download some movies, I will leave it running and downloading. By the way, you can have absolutely better experience if you play modern PC games on CRT monitor.

I recently upgraded my monitor form CRT to LCD. You're right! CRT Monitor is irritating to the eyes and according to my friend it produces more radiation compared to LCD monitor. No need of using anti-radiation film/filter in the monitor. With LCD monitor you can save space and it is convenient if you are not using computer table like the old ones. You can place it anywhere probably the base is flat. It doesn't cost too much. You can have it in monthly installments using your credit card.

i don't have credit card. but it is no problem i can just save money. and will just buy with cash for brand new monitor. i was eyeing to buy this Samsung LCD. seems great to the eyes.

In the near future the manufacturing of desktop CRT monitors will cease. That is for sure. Its true, CRT monitors put a lot of strain on the eyes, but you can't say LCDs' don't. I've been infront of a computer for almost 10 years now, 95% of that time Ive spent it with a CRT monitor, now I have eye glasses. Tip: to reduce eye strain blink often when in front of a computer for a long period of time. Rest for 10-15 minutes every hour. lighting should be enough and it should not come directly in front or from your the back or from outside the room. Adjust the brightness & contrast setting of the monitor to a comfortable level. Im using a Viewsonic and my settings are at both at 50. As much as possible replace your CRT monitor, LCDs are better in various ways..far better.

yeah i am wearing glasses now. i think i better buy it soon. cause my eyes really suffer a lot . i don't know why the light of the crt is harder on the eyes.
