Since I'm into this type of genre of fiction, I had borrowed the book from my brother before there ever was a movie. It took me like a day or two to finish the whole thing. It was really good and dramatic, so when I saw a preview for the movie; I knew I had to watch it. The actors and actresses played the role pretty well to make it follow along with the book. I like both equally in their own ways.

I'm not the fan, actually, but I've watched this movie two or three times and also enjoyed reading the book.I like movies about Japan and Japanese culture, even when they are made in western style. This story was romantic, dramatic and beautifully written.I especially like the ending,I think it would have been sad if Sayuri never saw her love again.

Same here, I find myself intrigued by Japanese culture and other cultures. The ending was really sad, It felt like I was in her shoes. That's how engrossed I was.
