Okay from my personal experience, I have owned 3 major brand phones: The first of which is a Motorola Razr, this phone broke so many times I went through 3 before I was due for an upgrade! The second was a LG Touch, which amazingly dropped down the toilet and 5 days later began working again!! Mind you, I lost the function of most of the touch apps lol. The third one was a Sony Ericcson w880i I've had it for 5 years and it still works fine, minus the normal wear and tear.

I never let mine wear out either as I am always upgrading every year. I just bought and LG enV touch, and I hope mine doesn't land in the toilet like the one users did. I try very hard to take care of my phones, as I don't like it when they get screathes on them and that is what happened to the last phone I had. My 3 year old grandson got a hold of it and run it across my laminate floor and scratched it up. I used it for awhile, as I wanted to wait at least for a year before I changed my phone, and that is what I did. I won't have to worry about himn scratching this one as my daughter lives along ways away now. Anyway, I just hate it when they get scratches, as they look like they have been through the ringer. I am the only one here in my house so if it gets ruined it will be my fault. I use a case for it when I go out, but not at home, as I don't wnat to have to take it out of the case continually when I get calls. I just hope this one lasts awhile as I don't want to replace it anytime soon. Have a great day, and happy mylotting.

For me it depends on the user of the cellphone. There brand that only last in 6-12months,. But if you took care of it, it will last a years...
