Zelda, teething is the natures way of telling the mother that it's time the baby is weaned. Though the young lad was born premature, he seems to be keeping up with the landmarks of child growth. Consult a child care professional for the proper diet. Happy parenting. BTW I am a dad to two sons.

My boys 23 and 21 years old. In India we generally encourage solid food by the time first teething occurs. My fist boy teethed early and my wife used to scream every time she fed him. The only way we could get him to open his mouth when he was biting was, unfortunately, a smack in the bottom. We consulted a child care specialist who gave the go ahead to solid food. Initially it was a baby cereal thin enough for bottle feeding and by the time he was 6-7 months old he was able to take it from a spoon. Of course it was messy, but worth it.
As I understand gums itch horrible during teething and there are teething rings available to relieve that. No guarantee that it stops biting. Please try out all the options available to you!
