Deleted Discussion

Have you ever had a Discussion deleted? Do Mylot explain to you WHY it has been deleted? I know it will be because we broke a rule in making that conversation, or there was something wrong with the conversation. But wouldnt you like to know exactly what rule you broke so you knew not to do it again? And is there any chance of asking them for it back lol? That may sound silly but like if you had a discussion that had made loads of responses in an hour and then Mylot deleted it, is there some sort of way that they can put it back? Or once its gone its gone forever?

Yes, two weeks ago, one of my discussion was deleted, because I violated some rules. I post a link and someone told me that it is forbidden to post link in mylot. So later I found my discussion deleted. I do not know if you could put it back, maybe you could get in touch with the admin.

I have known discussions that were deleted in error and restored but it is, to be frank, very, very rare. MyLot have a reputation for acting fairly and without favour. Because they have a very small staff for such a busy site, they also have a policy of only communicating with members when it is really necessary but when they do, they are always helpful. MyLot expect us to know the rules (we all check a box when we sign up to say that we have read the Terms and the Guidelines) and their policy (sensible, in my view) is to not get into any arguments about why a discussion was deleted. If you understand and follow the Guidelines, then you should never have discussions deleted but, if you read the Terms, you will see that MyLot reserve the right to delete ANY discussion without explanation. My own view about joining any site such as MyLot is that THEY make the rules and invite people to become members. If I were to go to a friend's house and was asked to take off my shoes, I would do so without protest, even though I don't follow that rule at home. If I want to go to a restaurant which bans people who wear jeans and tees or requires one to wear a tie, I either comply or don't go. The same applies to discussion sites and others that have rules and conditions of membership.

I've started a discussion over the weekend about my earnings not being updated and it was deleted. Now I know its against the rules and I won't post it again but there are some discussions I treasure and hope to keep. I don't think my other discussions were against guidelines so I hope they're safe. I think once a discussion is gone, it's gone forever.

I have had mine deleted when Ireportedthem becaise Iknew Ihad violated the Guidelines. I was trying tobring attention to something and i posted a similar discussion in two seperate interests. That is not allowed, and Iknew it, but I was very irrate for something that was happening at the time. In the Terms of Use (which we agree to) we are told: "myLot reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject, refuse to post or remove any posting by you, or to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to all or any part of the myLot services at any time, for any or no reason, with or without prior notice, and without liability. If your access to myLot is terminated, all of your earnings will be forfeited" http://www.mylot.com/o/terms.aspx When we post a new discussion (and when we respond and comment onother discussions) we should be aware of whether we are posting a violation or not. If our discussion does not comply with the Guidelines it will be deleted - PERIOD. All those who respond will lose their post too. Any earnings which had already been added to accounts will then also be deducted. Therefore each user, when starting a discussion, should alsobe aware that they could be causing others to waste their time too. MyLot do not inform, even when asked, as to the readon a discussion is deleted. If it is gone it is usually gone forever UNLESS there has been a huge mistake, which in over two years here I have known to happen VERY, very rarely. The only way to be certain we willn not lose posts, (or that we will but we were aware of it) is to understand the Guidelines and to check them frequently because new additions are added without warning.

Hello x_Jo_x! I got two things deleted. Nobody advised me as to what I did wrong, I just noticed it on my own...lol...But it was my fault for not checking before posting it. I posted 2 jokes..lol..it got deleted and get this. They deducted from my earning. lol..I worked my butt off for that penny..lol...Okay, all joking aside. I guess they are trying to keep it in their guidelines and they have every right to do so. It's their site. :) they can deleted anybody and anything. We just have to be careful and read all their Do's and Dont's, guidelines before doing anything that is not proper. It will be nice if they can post it back, but I guess, once they think its a bit no, no in their book. that's it..your out! lol I was reading a discussion earlier that someone got their account deleted for no apparent reason. And according to everybody on here, this person was a long time member of MyLot and knew the rules inside out. So, go figure!

Check the link to 'guidelines' at the bottom of this page for the 'Do's and Don'ts' in Mylot. Apart from the quite well known Don'ts of referral links and Mylot earnings there are several others like ' Don't ...Post jokes, recipes, etc. as discussions. This is a form of abuse and all recipes and jokes will be deleted if they are started as a discussion.' The reason is that it really isn't a discussion that you can contribute to other than 'Haha' or 'Yum yum!' or another joke or recipe.

I didn't read all of the other responses, so someone might have already filled you in on any type of information that I have to offer. As far as I know you can't get a discussion back, once it's gone, it's gone. I have had discussions deleted in the past, and I think it was because someone posted a referral link in them. As we all know here on myLot, that is a big no no.

I had one deleted that I started about my star. I was getting lots of replies too, I guess everyone got their replies deleted. I try not to reply to obvious terms of service violation posts, but sometimes they do not get deleted so you never know. I do not take it too seriously as myLot is not all my life, but still a nice little part of it. No they do not tell you why, it just disappears.

I had an early discussion deleted because I didn't know it broke a rule. I now know not to do it because there were posts by some helpful mylotters that warned of that particular discussion being deleted. It was a sort of "referral exchange", which is prohibited. I don't mind it being deleted and I respect the mylot admin for doing so.
