why being called "skinny" hurtful?

People say things like skinny, toothpick and so forth. I know that from the first place but people tend to continue pushing it as if you don't realize it yourself. Why do you think people keep on saying these things not knowing that the person that they're referring is already hurting?

It really hurts and because some people think you are skinny because you are poor and never able to eat enough. When, you are rich and you are skinny. It mean you have eating disorder like anorexia nervosa or bulimia. Many teenager, especially girls are victim of this eating disorder. Just like the cases of many famous celebrity with the likes of Nicole Richie, Kiara Knightley and other actresses..I have average weight but to others i look thin. No matter how many food I consume I remain thin. I think my body metabolism is fast and the food is easily digested causing me not too get fat..
